Peugeot 307 Al4 Gearbox Oil

Unread post by aliibrahimtr »

Greetings to all drivers,

I own a 2005 Model Peugeot 307 LPG/gasoline automatic transmission car. I would like to get your opinions about the transmission AL4. In the country I live in, there are many urban legends about lunar oil. Some say that the oil is for life, if the oil is changed, the transmission will malfunction, and you need to change the solenoids when changing the oil.
Actually, I don't have any problems with the transmission. I just want to change the oil. The car has 186xxxx km. I need your advice.

Please excuse any problems that may occur in translation.

Nothing wrong with changing the transmission oil and it is recommended that you do several times over the life of the vehicle. Issues can occur at higher mileage vehicles when there is already a problem with the transmission, but normally it is good practice to change the oil.

The modification you are referring to concerns replacement of the original Acutex brand pressure modulation and bridging converter solenoid valves to Borg Warner, as these provide better hydraulic control.

Once the replacement is done however, the gearbox transmission software MUST be updated to be compatible with the new solenoid valves.

So unless you are replacing the solenoid valves I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you for return. Which oil brand do you recommend? Castrol or Mobil Atf Lt 71141?

As long as it meets PSA specification (B71 2340) you can use any brand according to your budget, but Mobil is the officially approved oil.
