Re: Eolys?
yep, I guess , only issue now is the earliest they can do is now 8th August and the cars off to Devon next week for a family holiday !!!!!!!
As i say the garage had it in again and did a full re scan and recheck , they say they have the FULL kit for diagnoses and NOT a clone...
but as you said in my earlier post
QUOTE
"I think to be honest, as long as you have fluid in, you are not going to do any damage and it is likely it will keep dosing. But even if it doesn't, you still have natural regeneration if you are doing long runs as this will occur naturally in the DPF when the exhaust gasses reach 550° C.
The danger is when there is no fluid in the pump and that can lead to dry running, which is why I'm leaning on the side of it'll be ok as you have fluid in there, if you can live with the annoying light and message for now.
"
we will just have to hope it does not go into limp mode (which i guess is worse case )
Maybe the next message will be NO FLUID ......
i was not sure if the VIN number gave any extra details ...
The fluid is still showing correctly as entered - and they checked in all sort of places - also tried a peugeot kit - they have also done a Citroen, peugeot & ford in the last 2 weeks and all reset fine.....
now its changed its message to TOO LOW ... - which is just a mileage counter , i guess - spoke to garage again today ......
Also the main dealer we have it booked into - Nothing they can do without seeing it and we spoke to a few main dealers and this was the earliest date
Would have thought they should know the sequence of events - low additive , too low additve , etc
We have also not filled with deisel - BUT i have opened and closed the filler cap - as on some videos , forums it says this is the trigger for using the fluid

Re: Eolys?
There isn't a 'no fluid' message as the additive fluid in the tank is not physically measured - only estimated. The only message you'll get on the dash is the 'additive low' one, or the DPF 'at risk of clogging'.
Again, that's internet rubbish about the fuel cap! For vehicles fitted with a fuel cap sensor, all that does is tell the engine ECU that fuel may have been added and to take a fuel tank quantity measurement to determine if fuel has been added. It does not, in itself trigger any dispensing of the additive.
I've written pages on this in the Forum over the years, but suffice it to say there are conditions and checks that determine fuel measurement and additive adding.
Hopefully with a good run the filter will generate naturally and as long as the additive pump is dispensing, the at least this will aid regeneration.

thanks, thats good to know - we are not going to have a limpmode issue over the devon trip and can forget about now taking 3CARS and all the associated issues with that
thanks again , nd i can rest a bit easier the holiday will not turn into a load of stress - first family holiday for about 20years now

Hi Marc.GiveMeABreak wrote: 06 Jul 2024, 11:47 @Sebudex: Ok, so you need Eolys EXTEND, which is specific for the C5 X7 with this build date, NOT Powerflex.
I tried return fluid what i bought at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284644319246
but seller just constantly ask for reg number, so I explain and ask him if wrong fluid will be topped up what happened any damage for example? like some pump or anything else and can he check that one from auction its correct fluid but check from vin number, he just answers
"This is correct fluid for your vehicle " "do not worry". so, he confused me even more, I already get as well Extend 3L.
and I basically can't find any Vin number part checker or something like that.
Marc what to do ??

Re: Eolys?
All I can tell you is that there is an exception for the C5 X7 when it comes to additive fluid. Specifically, it must be Eolys Extend fluid.
As we can’t tell what the fluid is from the seller, how can you be sure that it is compatible?
Personally, if it was me, I would just send it back. Their website says they accept returns.

Re: Eolys?
On our most recent drive to the Czech republic and back (1200kms each way) we had the ominous message on our C8 2.0L Hdi FAP "Warning : particulate filter at risk of clogging". From as much as I can ascertain :
1) This is related to the Fuel Additive system in the car - or Eolys.
2) I bought the additive (blue cap so powerflex) - filled it with 3L
3) Took an old laptop , did a fresh install of Windows XP and installed as best as a I could diagbox 7.57
4) Employed the interface I bought off ebay and plugged her in.
5) Found some menus under "Personalised maintenance" which seemed relevant although I COULDN'T FIND THE RPO NUMBER - although I did look up advice here that said it's on the A pillar - see picture - so I just used "88909". Is that correct ?
6) Within the menu for "filling of the diesel additive tank" I just entered there and immediately got the message "Programming done" - I thought I had to enter the volume I filled and mileage values.. Thanks for your help.

Re: Eolys?
12889 is the RPO
Risk of clogging is not the additive level - that will generate a separate message. This means the filter has been unable to regenerate (despite multiple attempts by the engine ECU) likely as a result of stopping and starting or too short journeys that are preventing the exhaust gas temperatures from reaching the requirements before the filter can regenerate.
When this happens, it means you need to go for an uninterrupted drive of at least 40 MPH for 10-20 minutes (and I'd suggest you keep in 4th gear) to get the engine up to temp to allow a complete regeneration tot take place.

Re: Eolys?
Thanks a lot Marc, I tried 12889 - didnt seem to make much difference in diagbox. I was heartened to see it detected the VIN automatically. Did i get it right diaboxwise with that refill message ?GiveMeABreak wrote: 14 Jul 2024, 16:56 12889 is the RPO

Re: Eolys?
Yep, as long as you actually did refill the additive tank - if you didn't, then this will give inaccurate info to the engine ECU, so when the tank does actually need refilling you won't get a message and this can cause damage to the additive pump if it is allowed to dry-run. So now that you've actually reset the additive counter, I strongly suggest you top it up with a refill kit (unless you have topped it up), then you won't have to reset it again.

Re: Eolys?
I put 3L into it - so not sure that qualifies as "refilling it" - it wasn't empty but after the 3L went in I still had nothing come out of the overflow hose. However thanks a lot for the help and the advice I'll get another 3L and put that in too - Is it correct that the tank's capacity is 4.5L as I read elsewhere here?GiveMeABreak wrote: 14 Jul 2024, 21:37 Yep, as long as you actually did refill the additive tank - if you didn't, then this will give inaccurate info to the engine ECU, so when the tank does actually need refilling you won't get a message and this can cause damage to the additive pump if it is allowed to dry-run. Re: Eolys?
No, DON'T add any more! 3 Litres is the max, you've probably topped it up now, that's plenty to see the car through the rest of its life!
