1.6 injector bolts. This might be a silly question but...

Unread post by LittleOldSuzi »

I am doing another one of the kids 1.6 DV6 engines where the injectors have loosened and I wanted to check something. It might be a silly question but...

We all believe the bolts are stretch bolts because the tightening is 4nM + 60 degrees. However, 60 degrees on a 1mm pitch is only 0.16mm. Are we really stretching the bolt or are we instead compressing the copper washer against the seat?

The copper washer will compress as we seat it but will it compress 0.16mm? Comments.

Probably a bit of both. There's doubtless plenty people reuse the originals and never have a problem. Conversely, new bolts are cheap, aftermarket for under £10 a set or genuine ones for about £5 each.
