DIAGNOSIS ON PEG AND CITROEN CARS

Post by assael1 »

Hello for all forum members, first i want to you apollgies for my poor english, thats because i'm not from U.K.
when i'm looking on this beutifull site many of you telling about problems on injuction systems ,dealer or garages who cant solve those problems even that they chargh alot of mony for hours labor and unreqiyment epplaced parts . you allways pointetd what was the faults codes ,then asking the forum members to give thiere opinion for the right sellosion.
I'm tecnitian on peg and citroen officially garage[in my country we deal them both],at my work i'm dealling with the old [205,405,106,AX,ZX,XANTIA etc.]and new cars[206,307,607,C5,C3],so i can tell you friends you cant give good diagnosis by only reading faults codes ,that's besause some of the faults come on from another item of the system
I dont know about your gun tool but my officialy beside reading faults its read parameters on real time [even drive tests],test functions of iteems like valves, injuctors, pump, relays etc'.even all of those tests cant give you the right diagnosis that's because many of faults caused by faulty software ecu so you have to look if new one avilable.
I give two exsapels:
On peg 306 1.4i SAGEM SL 96 read fault:idle stepper motor
if you dont know how to deal, you'll replace it
but the right sellution is to change coil from SAGEM to ELECTROFILL and ecu too.
on XSARA 1.8i read fault:mixture adjustment
this fault can be from:sticky lambda sensor,MAP sensor, plugs, injectors, bad fuel etc'
in this case you have to observe the parameters or active itemsof the system.
in my country the costumers wouldnt pay if the they ain't satisfied no matter if expend a lot working hours they willing accepet only good dignosis.

very true assael.fault codes will only point you in the right direction (sometimes).generally they dont show fuel or spark problems, more to do with sensors.if it brings up for example a coolant temperatue sensor fault.it may be a faulty sensor but it could also be a fault in the wiring.its about how you interprate the fault.another example is a faulty coil pack causing a rich mixture fault.(if it doesent spark it causes unburnt fuel to be picked up by the lambda sensor and gives a rich mixture fault).also like assel said you really need to see the paramiters (the current info being given by each sensor) for a good diagnosis.

I have a 94 Citroen Pzazz 1.4i. I began having difficulties starting when hot a few weeks ago. Now the car cuts out when warm and is very difficult to re start. The problem is linked to overfuelling - if I disconnect the fuel pump and crank the engine it will start quite quickly.
Does any one have any ideas about this.

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator (inside the throttle body) might be knackered. Post in the Citroen section and the best brains will give you their opinion, or take it to your local Bosch specialist. They seem to know more than the Citroen dealers when it comes to engine management IMO. BTW, I also have a 1.4 Pzazz. Don't know how much longer its got though...starting to get expensive.
