Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
Out for lunch with some bloke from Paggers and he described the bizareness of having two restaurants opposite each other in an otherwise barren area!!
I picked up on 'bizarreness' and decided 'bizarrity' sounds much nicer so I propose its adoption if not already in use!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
Jim's been at it again this morning with this, not the first time either previous FCF mentions can be seen here...
'Bondhu'
The context conveys the meaning and its origins are what you might call "Services Banter" generally accepted to go back to a South African term "Bundu" meaning bushland. Various spellings of the term are used.
Bit of a discussion on it here which also includes what are termed as "Bondu Boots" aka "Desert Boots" very popular in the 70's .

With the relevant word beingCitroJim wrote: 03 Jul 2024, 05:44 I had a 144 when I lived in Cyprus... A 1967 model. Built like a tank and good in every way... It was my old 'Bondhu-Basher' and used as my daily driver to keep miles off my brand-new MG Metro; the car I brought home to the UK when my tour ended...

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
Clarks originals all sorts of colours/finishes, as of yesterday £70 on-line, down from £120. Very unlikely they will have "Made in Somerset" on them nowCitroJim wrote: 04 Jul 2024, 04:59Wow! Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
Well yesterday's offering stirred absolutely no follow on comments so, as the word means literally, I will
rebroadcast word of the day from yesterday through this channel in the hope that the old TV buffs or anyone else joins in.
Added to the rebroadcast I have another couple of words for today which I came across. They popped up in an old advert for a Pashley product.
Cardice & Drikold
So what do you reckon that is...

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
That ad is confusing - but given the earlier coverage of delivery bikes, are we to assume that Pashley are/were offering a delivery bike with an insulated box suitable for carrying dry ice? Or for using dry ice to keep other goods cold perhaps?

Re: "Word/Phrase of the Day"
Pashley made a huge range of commercial bikes/trikes including specialist vehicles for "Ice Cream" vendors with a refrigerated box at the front, hence the catalogue numbers listed,Armidillo wrote: 06 Jul 2024, 23:44 That ad is confusing - but given the earlier coverage of delivery bikes, are we to assume that Pashley are/were offering a delivery bike with an insulated box suitable for carrying dry ice?
