Foot brakes - the GS (Others?) had a floor mounted "button" , instead of a brake pedal which was interesting until you got used to it to say the least.

Serious danger of contact with the windscreen for the unwary.
I put that down as the reason many backed out of buying a GS. Brakes were far better than anything else around at the time.

Agree - 4 Discs, two front were inboard. Most other cars had drums.

Handbrake on the right hand side/next to drivers door, instead of being in the centre of the vehicle

My GS handbrake in the centre of the dashboard - left room for a decent stereo in the gearbox binnacle:

The concave rear window on the CX made for easy viewing in the rain and self-cleaned for the most part.

The rear internal passenger compartment shield that prevented passengers from getting wet or a cold wind when someone was in the tailgate - only Citroen could of dreamt up this quirkiness:

Oh and the back to the GS before I forget - the starting handle! Great in the event of a flat battery!

The foot operated parking brake of the XM deserves mention, it makes hill starts very interesting with manual transmission.

Oh, yes, I do recall it took me a while to get used to that on my first manual XM. Switched to Autos after that, so wasn't too bad.

Let's not forget the security keypad demanding a PIN before you could get going, I had it on the ZX Volcane and another but I can't remember which, - possibly the first XM?

That looks like a shovel handle!

Yes, you just pulled it out - very easy and it acted on the front discs which were inboard of the engine. I have fond memories of changing disc pads on my GSA's - but no good if you have back problems...
