Hi.
So it's time for a new research to keep me busy with my C5X7 tourer....
After solving A/C (condenser fan) problem, rear passenger door hinge replacement, my citron gave me a new reason for headache. Rear wiper and washing for boot glass starts to spray and wipe on it's own, without being triggered by me. Any ideas where to start searching to remove this issue? Motor has been changed last year, so it should not be the cause of the problem....
Regards.

Re: C5X7 Tourer rear wiper and spraying issue
Hi Gregor
My first thoughts on this are towards the rear wiring loom as it enters the rear tailgate. The wires can become worn at the weak point, causing a break in the sheathing and then cause issues. The wiring should enter at the rear top left of the tailgate, so may take some investigation there.
The only other issue of self-wiping I am aware of is only regarding the front wipers with the headlamps also switching on and off, but not the rear and not the wash.

Re: C5X7 Tourer rear wiper and spraying issue
How often does it happen & is there any pattern to it?
Earlier Citroen models had issues with com2000 units (the combined wiper & lighting stalk units) & this could be one of the symptoms. Later ones like on the X7 C5 seem to be a bit more reliable though.
Might also be worth unplugging all the connectors on the BSM (under bonnet fusebox) & check for any signs of water damage.

Thank you.

Re: C5X7 Tourer rear wiper and spraying issue
Hi,
Sorry for reanimating the dead, but I guessed it would be better than to start the new thread.
I have the same issue , the rear washer starts by itself.
If I turn it on manually, then it stops squirting the fluid out. I find it much better than loosing all the washing fluid in 20 minutes or less.
One thing to ote that just now I noticed that is not exactly random.
The above happens if you touch the stalk controlling the wipers , and I mean touch very lightly(imagine touching something that might be very hot, quick light tap) or breath hard enough

.
I believe that when driving it turns on without touching due to vibrations.
I haven't noticed any other issues that could be related to the faulty com2000 unit.
Any advice ? Is there a way to tell 100% if it's a com2000 or just a mechanical issue with the stalk ?
Thank you

Re: C5X7 Tourer rear wiper and spraying issue
It happens on my X7 occasionally and has done for the 8 years I've had the car. I just operate the wiper manually while I grin and bear it.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
