If only there was an article to tell us. Well thanks Claus Ebberfeld and his "Via Retro Classics with a Scandinavian Flick" Blog we have.
..and its a visual Citroen steering wheel feast plus the piece de resistance, not from Citroen, but another automaker in one of their off the wall design moments which for me is their most interesting-looking incarnation. (ie the Aston Martin Lagonda)
for example...I think Claus' article is an interesting read, and an interesting coffee table flick through the images at the least.

Bit of a revival, a very interesting article full of pics on the back of a current subject of the Aston Martin Lagonda which as well as Citroen opted for a single spoke steering wheel.

One spoke's all well & good but doesn't leave much room for cruise & other controls

I was impressed with it on my dad's Morris 1000, the first one in our town and the only one for quite a while.

If you don't recognise this instantly pop over to the Classic for Under 10k thread and you'll realise what it comes from:

Jim's Alfetta spot on his run today inspired a bit of a delve into its interior and dashboard.
Odd sort of display... Priority number 1 given to the speedo with the rev counter detached and shoved to the side.
Maybe Italian customers don't bother with the "ten to two" hands on the steering wheel thing, it will be visible from the "twenty-five to five" position.

I rather think that our works van was a Somerset derivation. Forward of the windscreen looks the same and the dash too, there was also a column change and umbrella handbrake as the seat was a bench seat. A 'J' sometingorother I believe.

Re: Interiors and Dashboards (interesting and awful!)
I drove one of these for years when working in Brum, used to transport motor bikes and pedal bikes between Hereford Worcester and Birmingham shops, usually one big motorbike and nine pedalers or two motor bikes.
Almost had it written off when it was just three months old when a tyre company rep came the wrong side of a roundabout, buckled the chassis so it went back to the Austin works to be fixed.
Wouldn't mind one now it would be excellent for car booting.
