Xantia Bump Stops

Unread post by peter306 »

Hello again.
I've read the previous posts but they are a tad dated.
My bump stops are just about gone, just the black bits left, anyone know where I can get some or if there is an alternative.

I had this problem about a year ago. I bought a bump stop for a c5 mark1. It's entirely soft rubber (no black plastic section like on a Xantia.) I was able to cut it across with a kitchen knife at a suitable point and then fit it into the black plastic section.

Peter, it may be worth having a word with one of the specialist Activa Groups on Facebook. I'm aware they're having quite a lot of stuff remanufactured and this may apply to bump stops, knowing how they are now failing.

Activa ones are the same ;)

Hello again
Xantianonstarter, I found a post that did show c5 ones getting converted so I've got 2 on order, should work then.
Jim, as above, would they let a lowly 1.8LX owner onto such an august site

Hello, got the c5 stops, cut a lip round the top and chopped the centre piece, bit of washing up liquid and they are now fitted with the plastic support, another job done, possibly the heater matrix when it's warmer, oh joy

Hi, could you please guide me how to do it ? Perhaps share with me some photos that you may have taken from the process or share with me that post you mention, so that I do the same ? My Xantia's rear bump stops are totally worn and the only solution I thought so far, was to find a couple from scraped cars and have rubber cones somehow fitted on the old plastic supports, but they would never be soft like before. Your help will be deeply appreciated. Thanks

I fitted a C5 bump stop to my Xantia a few weeks ago. The C5 bump stop is longer, and needs to be cut down leaving a 3mm deep flange that then fits into the groove in the plastic mount on the Xantia. I don't seem to have taken a photo, but I will photograph the piece I cut off, which is still on the floor.

The C5 bump stops are available from the likes of Autodoc and MR Auto.
