This unit is the RD4 or RD45 system, made by Continental.
Usually standard equipment unless another system is specified as an option. There are Single & Dual Tuner versions. RD45 features over the RD4: The RD45 has USB connectivity & integrated Bluetooth module supporting Phone & Audio Streaming.

Bluetooth/Handsfree options

Unread post by freddyokel »

Having got used to Bluetooth on my partner's C3 Picasso (it has an RD45) I'd kinda like it in my 207cc.
So firstly I considered replacing my RD4 with an RD45 but my multifunction display is only on 51.something so that gets a little more complex.
Next up is the 'Nomad' unit...
Question is, do I already have one?
My radio is griping about an F905 so is it trying to talk to something that it thinks it has?
VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] if anyone can do the magic to see my original equipment.

Thanks in advance... ;)

So first things:

You can't upgrade your display with an RD45 - it needs at least an EMF-C level screen with software of at least V72.2, so you would have to check the back to see what you have.
You don't have the hands free kit fitted (Nomad) and would not need one with RD45. The RD45 already has Bluetooth built in.

The F905 fault concerns a fault with the left hand input of the AUX.

Yes, my EMF-C software version is V51.something so I'm tending towards the Nomad route.
I think I've seen it said that the wiring should be in there already and that I need the microphone, the Nomad unit and the bracket to fit it.
That and a bit of tweaking in Diagbox to enable it.

I can't confirm that the wiring will be there or not, sorry as it's generally a factory-fit option on order. Harnesses are different according to optional equipment fitted and in this case you already have a different harness because of non-automatic A/C and no Parking assistance. I'm not saying that this will mean you don't have the wiring there, but just worth mentioning that there are multiple variations of all the harnesses in the vehicle.

I also mention this as in after-sales they provide some kits for bluetooth and harnesses - but some are no longer available. The other is specifically for Parrot type kits....
