I'm an expert procrastinator so may be a while before another attempt.
My late wife did all our baking, bread, cakes and biscuits, as well as cooking everything from raw ingredients. She wouldn't let anything pre-made other than fish 'n chips over the threshold.

POTD One for the Brick Buffs

In the end of month awards were there to be a "best photograph of a brick category" this would currently be the front runner....
Click to enlarge a couple of times<br />and the location of the find is the North bank of the River Wansbeck just before the East Coast Main Line crosses the Wansbeck at the Bothal Viaduct (between Morpeth and Pegswood).

Walbottle Coal & Firebrick Co., Newburn, Newcastle upon Tyne. The brickworks, situated by the Percy Pit at Newburn, would later be associated with the red-shale 'Newburn' brand building brick, but its early production was the staple firebrick, examples of which still litter the former location (now a nature reserve) to this day!

I do most of the baking in this house. Loaves, hot buns (agnostic hot X buns), Cornish pasties etc etc.
The white bread recipe I use is Bread flour, 60% luke warm water, dried yeast, very small amount of salt. Normally I use 1,200gm flour, 720 ml/gm water, 1/2 ts salt, 10gm yeast.
mix, cover & let rise in oven @40deg C. when doubled in size knock back & divide 7/12 for mine & 5/12 for her loaf. roll out & put in tins, let rise again in warm oven until well risen. Get oven up to about 200deg & start baking. Reduce temp to 180 after say 5 mins & bake for total time of approx 40 mins. I check it's ready by a thermometer probe when 92 deg internal temp is done.
Works every time.

My attempt was rough and ready and a combination of two recipes, one on the yeast packet and the other an online one but American, with their strange measurements.
Salt, flour, olive oil and water, mixed up, bashed about a bit, allowed to rise, bashed a bit more then incinerated gently.
Better than Hovis by a wide margin but not epicurean by an equally wide margin.
Should have had a second proving.

Jim's not shy about putting his loaves on POTD Vic, why not join him with your hers and his loaves. :-D
Maybe stage an attempt an arty food-mag type shot, loaves half uncut/half sliced on the bread board, toast on an adjacent plate, knife and melted butter....jar of honey/marmalade...

Pretty accurate and quite watchable as he isn't too American.

POTD has just passed 770,000 views today and since Saturday has averaged 6,000 views per day. Certainly the most active thread on the FCF. Viewers need entertaining and blessed are the content providers for they do provide the entertainment.

So if you are a viewer, join the band of content providers and shove one of your photo's up on the thread.
Always nice when a debutant becomes a regular contributor...for example...

This was regular content provider Mickthemaverick's original picture as a debutant in 2019 on the thread. Click the pics and the links still work and the little pics enlarge! :-D

Nice atmospheric photo Jim I like a bit of silhouetting :-D

Now if my eyes were set up like my point and shoots sensor I would see purple as this shade of blue.
