Citroen C3 Picasso 2012 doors locking automatically
Hi, I have an issue with my car, whenever I unlock it and enter, once I close the drivers side door it locks the entire car, also brings the wing mirrors in and I have to then switch the engine on for the doors to unlock and wing mirrors to go to their correct position. As you can imagine this is very annoying and I do have to remember to always have the keys with me on exiting to avoid them getting locked in. If the engine is on and I exit the car the doors don't lock. It still passes it's MOT but I do have to ensure the mechanic has my spare key as he has accidentally locked my keys in before now and my husband has had to go and drop off the spare one. My question is, has anyone else had this issue and can this be corrected and at what cost? I have contemplated going to an auto electrician with a view to sorting it out but I get the feeling this won't be cheap. It did once revert back to locking correctly of its own accord but then reverted back once my daughter passed her test and started using it as well. I am unable to sell the car on due to this fault as no one is gong to want to have to deal with this issue every time they want to use it. It was something to do with closing the doors in a different order last time that seemed to set it right but now when I try and close different doors in different orders including the boot it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any suggestions greatly received, thanks.

First thing I would check is the wiring between the door and door pillar, possibly it is damaged. If it happens with only the usual remote key but not the spare remote, then it might be the lock button on the usual remote is at fault but if you unlock using the key in the door and it does not self lock then it is probably not a remote key fault.

Sometimes this can be fixed by locking / unlocking the door with the physical key. But it may be a fault in actual lock mechanism.

I am following this thread as my 2010 Piccasso does the same thing, tomorrow I will try unlocking it using the key.

Twice now, I've had mine randomly unlock itself and leave the interior light on for hours on end...
It's not happened recently so I've not yet tried a BSI reset but in your case Spogerdi, I'd be tempted to to do so. Have you tried this on yours Stewart?

Does your central display show that the drivers door is open when you open the door?
If there is a problem with the door open signal the when you unlock the car & it doesn't think you opened a door then it will re lock the car (as its supposed to).

Well the unlocking with the key had no effect, the door open message on the dash works as it should, opening any of the other doors then closing the drivers one first overrides it, I will try a BSI reset next though I may wait until the clocks go forward, there is one in my local breakers that might donate a door wiring loom for me to play with in the meantime.

Re: Citroen C3 Picasso 2012 doors locking automatically
Hi, I have just read about the key solution. Both of our keys have the same issue, however I have just gone out to the car and unlocked it using the key as suggested and it still locked itself as soon as I closed the door. I did then decide to go and unlock it on the passenger side with the key and then lock it with the key. When I unlocked the drivers side with the key and closed the door it stopped locking itself. I've tried using the key fob and so has my daughter and the car no longer locks itself for now, thank God. I will monitor it and if it continues to work will give an update, if however it reverts back I will let you all know and see if the passenger unlock works again. Thanks all for the input, regards SpogerdiCitroJim wrote: 12 Mar 2024, 04:49 Twice now, I've had mine randomly unlock itself and leave the interior light on for hours on end...

Re: Citroen C3 Picasso 2012 doors locking automatically
Our 2012 C3 Picasso is doing something similar.
Closing the drivers door triggers a door locking event unless the keys are in the ignition or... the dashboard lock button has been pressed, extinguishing the light.
From outside the car when it's locked, using the physical key to unlock works until the key is released back to the centre position when the car locks again.
I'm guessing that the lock signal from the drivers door key unit is locked on permanently.
I've tried running a live BSI scan using Diagbox, but it's kinda useless as to trigger this behaviour the key has to be out of the ignition and therefore Diagbox won't work.
My next step is to meter out the signals at the BSI to see if the key actually makes a difference.
