I found Bury Field rather wet this morning...

Not surprisingly, Bury Field parkrun this Saturday is cancelled due to a waterlogged course...

There are areas in Oxfordshire and Berkshire where the River Thames is three times (or more) its normal width. There are also numerous temporary 'lakes' that used to be fields. The ground is so waterlogged it cannot hold any more water. The flood plains are definitely doing their jobs (even if home owners who were given bad advice wish they weren't!).

Ours are and the one right by my house is keeping mine safe and dry :D

Lots of disquiet in our town as a large development has just started being built on a floodplain and it's currently doing what a floodplain does.

We are curious to see if the houses are being built on stilts... And if the new owners are being given a free boat when they buy...

I know of a house built in Marlow that is on an island in the River Thames. This house featured on "Grand Designs". It has the genuine ability to float (and I don't means that it appears to float), with a rise of 2 meters. When the couple who built it first got started it was 2012, and the island was flooded.

On the program the only thing the owners hadn't got quite right was the ballasting. When the house was floating they could not play pool, as the table was not level (although it was when the house had 'grounded').

I had to perform an eviction on a meece house today, but in the end it turned out the occupants had already vacated :?

If you look through the grille you'll see some 'stuff' under there....

Here's the stuff that made up the mouse house

Further investigation, once I'd removed the engine cowling, revealed four small ex-mice tucked down the side of the engine. They had ceased to be at some recent point :(

If there are no entries on POTD for any day in question, and you haven't taken any pictures recently to entertain the viewing public, there remains a simple way to participate.

Just select a page from the 788 pages previously assembled on the thread at random and click the quote button.

Here's one I did earlier, 2017 vintage but still reasonably entertaining.
