Airbag swap spare connection

I have replaced my steering wheel and airbag as my 2009 wheel was tatty

I fitted a 2017 off eBay which works as normal with no warning lights

When I fitted the airbag I noticed an extra flat plate on metal ring my earth connector if that's what it is, is connected to on bottom left as you look at it from drivers seat, bottom right of photo

Is the extra flat connection plate used on a 2017 and does it matter to my vehicle or is it irrelevant

Have added photo of original with connector on bottom right which I connected my spade connector to and photo of new airbag with extra connection point top centre of airbag component
Should I have connected spade to that?

For safety reasons, we can't advise you on fitting incorrect parts to your vehicle. We can only advise that you replace the module with the exact same part as your original as the later ones may be designed differently and operate differently under activation conditions, which may have serious implications.
