He's not far off feeding out of my hand - he pecked at my fingers this morning. Something's had a go at him at some point as he's got quite a few feathers damaged and missing on his chest - hasn't put him off his appetite though

The backdrop behind SWMBO at lunch today, this may give a clue about the origin of the parliamentary term 'The Chiltern Hundreds' which are required by MP's wishing to leave the House.

Were they nice once you cooked them?CitroJim wrote: 16 Feb 2024, 17:43 That's a nice, tame duck Robin! I really rather like ducks![]()
I bagged a family of them yesterday whilst out running beside a fairly well swollen River Great Ouse...

They were faster than me and had one big advantage over me Ryan... They can fly
The few times I've eaten duck I've rather liked it
I'm not keen on either chicken or turkey. One is dry and tasteless and the other is all dry string and cardboard. Duck is tasty and succulent

I used to agree with your comment on chicken and turkey but recently my Mrs has changed the way she cooks them. She looks at the cooking instructions and says sod you, she now cooks them at gas mark 3 for several hours. Slow and steady wins the race.....and so succulent

You'll know when that bird is ready, the legs with move wide and be super relaxed. The meat will just fall off

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Have been to visit my car today, third day in a row. Put a new battery from Tayna in it and while it was here checked for locking wheel nuts and key. No sign of a key and there is a different nut on each of the wheels, 21 mm same as the ordinary ones but unbelievably tight, had a go at them but not too energetically in case I broke them and rendered the car unusable, son needs it for work.
Went there yesterday to take photos. Not very useful ones as it happened but did discover a flat tyre. Blew it up and forgot to check the remaining three
Been back and taken better photo's, checked the tyre and it had lost a bit of pressure so reinflated it and checked and inflated the others, all slightly down.
Discovered how to work the CD player. Have to press a 'load' button for it ti accept CDs. (I managed to pair my phone too but you have to talk to the car to do it so that is not an option for my son, he won't talk to Alexa).
Passed loads of Mazdas but none the same as mine.
On the way back spotted this:-
Not the old geezer but the murial on the wall behind him.
Lived here for nearly forty years and never noticed that before. It is a rendition of the Lambton Worm. The village I live in is called Lambton.
My daughter used to have the top floor flat on the left, above the green telecoms box, so can't claim to not have been that way before.

Try this for a different interpretation but make sure you use full screen mode.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
There's nothing like that in Australia Jim - although some large houses in Sydney's Eastern suburbs change hands for a lot of money, they can't match the scale and grandeur of your stately houses.
However we can find colour and drama in the little details of everyday life - this young Crimson Rosella (just in the middle of developing adult plumage) is feeling a bit woozy after smacking into our picture window (despite blind being down). It recovered after a while and flew into a nearby wattle. Lex was very interested, but didn't touch!

The last picture I took of birds thudding into the window was this of a sparrowhawk and pigeon combo
Being where it is, not unusual that it has featured in two episodes of "The Avengers", and the estate in many episodes of "Department S". It also appeared in the 60's Film "The Dirty Dozen".CitroJim wrote: 19 Feb 2024, 05:56 Ashridge House is a Business School/College... Goodness knows how much it all costs... It's all very grand...
Neil"A guide to Avengerland" tells all. Ashridge is in "Outer Avengerland west" code B7

Wow! Never knew Ashridge had been used as a film set
Thanks for that Neil
This morning in Paggers, the slightly less salubrious part I must say but that sky
'Red sky in morning, runner's warning..'
Whilst it may be a harbinger of bad weather, it's rather beautiful
