Wow Jim - just wow! Starting to look like the Darling River in flood!CitroJim wrote: 09 Feb 2024, 17:26 I'm normally very stress-free - essential to my health not to get too stressed but today it ran close...
I had to cancel Bury Field parkrun after finding the course almost entirely submerged when I check-ran it this morning![]()
The river had burst its banks and this was what greeted me in Castle Meadow just across from my house this morning...
This is a floodplain and rarely this 'full'..
And from the Iron Bridge...
The stress came from the pile of admin I had to do in connection with cancelling a parkrun because of a flooded course!
Then I found I have a load of work to do in my TT racing organisation role!
All nicely relieved by enjoying a most excellent lunch with Mick at our favourite pub!

The familiar common blackbird takes a nice close up pose for the camera.

On my perambulations today. I must have passed this dozens of times and not seen it, about a mile from my home.

No, it was about three hours fast there. Probably stopped, I'll have another look next time I pass but that could be weeks away.

Thanks Jim enjoying playing around. The birds are photogenic in their own right but the falcon does enjoy a bit of abstract manipulation to create some interesting (to me anyway) patterns and colours.

That was my first thought when I saw it Jim, knew it wouldn't do for you.CitroJim wrote: 11 Feb 2024, 18:23 Clocks showing the wrong time or not working seriously aggravate my OCD Steve... I'd be needing to do something about it![]()
On that note, I had to pick my daughter up from work on Thursday. When we stopped I took my phone out to check the time against the car clock, which seems to me to have been 80' out but my son had a theory that it would start at one of two times each time the car was started after being idle for about 12 hours.
I have never been able to set it, the button on the steering wheel does nothing. The handbook and YouTube are hopeless.
She reached out and poked something and after a few seconds the time was right.
The clock setting buttons were obscured by the phone cradle that I had stuck in the vent (and never used).
Would have driven you wild.

I had much the same problem adjusting Polly's clock. Had to get the handbook out
I have quite an old Sony radio here in my collection that automatically sets its clock from the RDS data carried on FM radio broadcasts...
I'm shocked that modern cars like ours don't do the same.
My watch dos the same via GPS transmissions and both my dashcam and bike video cameras set their internal clocks every time they connect to either a laptop or a linked 'phone.
My two grandfather clocks keep excellent time and I rarely need to adjust them.

Interestingly, I looked at the record of the walk involving the steampunk clock.
Amazing how wrong it was. Missed out at least three quarters of the hike but thought that it had taken 67 hours and 41 minutes to walk half a mile.

I was in Windsor early this morning (sorting out a printer for a client), so I took a couple of Windsor Castle in the early sunrise.
