C5 X7 driveshaft identification

Unread post by Old Nick »

Hello everyone,

There are some rather good posts on C5 X7 driveshafts, but perhaps someone could help with an identification summary for those of us who might explore donor cars, please?

I understand there is at least a 2x2 set of variants, right and left x manual and automatic gearbox, but are there other variants?

My particular issue is to see if a right hand side driveshaft from a. 2.0 HDI automatic will fit my 2011 155thp automatic, but then, with the quality of this forum, would it be possible to compile a reliable table?

Kind regards/

That's really not a practical way to do this.

There are multiple types of these for different engines and gearboxes that really require your VIN to provide you with the correct part number. You can then use this to obtain the correct part. Your upgraded membership provides this, so supply your VIN here and I'll advise on the correct ones for your vehicle.

Thank you for the quick reply and parts no offer. I did suspect a number of variants. My own VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
The piece that - supposedly - fits my car is from car VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

(1) New Driveshaft, Left, Part: 3272WK, £630.43
Exchange Driveshaft, Left, Part: 3272WN, £378.53

(2) New Driveshaft, Right, Part: 3273XF, ££378.53
Exchange Driveshaft, Right, Part: 3272XH, ££630.43

The above are correct part numbers for your vehicle from Citroen (new and exchange refurbished options that include UK VAT) - don't use anything else as a lot of parts places are incorrect!

Be aware the donor VIN you provided - those are NOT correct for your vehicle.

Hi again,

I read the explanation on how to remove and refit the CV joint. viewtopic.php?t=61695&start=15

Now, I wonder if you knew if mine can have a new CV joint rather than a new shaft? It would make my garage time more interesting. Since my previous posts I have found the sticker on my original shaft hidden under some layers of dirt, and it has some numbers
9686923680
3597460
07.335.2010
I’m quite good at traction avant parts, but the C5 is a bit new to me.
Is this the type where the outer CV joint can be replaced, please?

Regards

I think I've already provided the correct driveshaft info for you in the parts thread, but just to answer your question, Citroen only provide the complete driveshafts.

Hi, thanks for your swift reply, I’d just like to know if my driveshaft is the GKN or PSA/NTN type as explained in your other post.

Hi Nils, unfortunately as stated in the procedure, there is no way to identify which you have apart from the label on the original shafts.
