I'm not completely immune to the appeals of ball based "sports" = I do like ten pin bowling! Not really any good at that (or any other sports really) but at least can have fun whilst being rubbish at it!

I do like ten pin bowling!

I think I could, given it's a very social sort of game Matt Only two problems. I can barely lift and launch the balls without dislocating my fingers and the scoring system is totally impenetrable to me. I've tried it a few times but end up in kid's mode... Using the slide-type ball launcher and the guide rails...

The scoring system for a lot of sports leave me baffled... All that loving that goes on in tennis for instance... And the maths involved in playing darts is way beyond me... And the scoring system in snooker leaves me snookered

I used to be heavily into tenpin bowling until my van was broken into in 2006 and my bowling bag containing 2 balls, all my achievement badges and my passport in the side pocket from a tournament in France the previous weekend. We were due to accompany my mate Ken to Spain the next day when he moved out there. We had booked the whale cruise on the Pride of Bilbao, the ferry he was using for their migration. I had to run around to find an open Police Station where I could report the passport theft and get a Crime number which the ferry company said they would allow me to travel on.

I had no issues alighting in Bilbao for the day and boarding the return ferry. However when we disembarked in Portsmouth the Passport Control would not let me into England. I had to remain in 'no mans land' along the dock until they had contacted the Hendon police where I had got the crime number and confirmed its authenticity. 50 minutes in limbo!!

However on my return I contacted the British Tenpin Bowling Association, BTBA. and asked if they would send me replacements for all my achievement badges, comprising 6 x individual game scores, 5 x 3 game series badges, a big four and a seven-ten split . They said they would not re-issue and I would have to repeat the feats and re-apply. Since the two split badges were pretty much once in a lifetime achievements I was really peed off with them and quit the sport without replacing my balls. I haven't touched a bowling ball since but just for the record I do still have my trophies, a selection of which live in my display cabinet:

Tragic and a very petty attitude by the governing body

A great day yesterday at Ryton Pools Country Park - not far from the old Ryton PSA Car Plant where so many now classic Pugs were built - which sadly, is history with no trace left...

A nice bit of training for my Trail 50Km run next month I could easily have gone out to 50K but pulled up short, conscious I have several important events to run in the near future. Plus I need to be good for a run today (Friday).

Now some say the pattern of this run looks a bit dodgy... I do wonder if there was a bit of subtlety in calling the event the 'Beaver Challenge'...

Since walkers are disqualified for not maintaining contact with the ground at all times, can runners be disqualified if captured with their toes on the ground?

All this reading of sports is making me think what would be an even playing field for every person on this forum. I figured it out, Go Carting, we all drive! Secondly so called sport I could think of was Bumper Cars, Admins VS deleted post people!! That would be fun!!
