Would be good to know.

I spoke to easy diagnostics who said they do have the kit that will work for my vehicles but pointed me to a full chip lexia3 on ebay and said that will save me money, do the same thing and that i would be able to disable the sos system using the software. Absolutly lovley bloke who even said when you buy it off this other person give me a ring if you need help with it. I can highly recomend talking to them for an honest answer to what kit would suit you best.

After unlocking again the car no longer calls emergency services but it states finding your location and trys to contact someone. Does the dialing beeps repeatedly for some time before it just gives up so im looking forward to turning it off for good

Will diagnose it first to see whats what but its being turned off after all the headache its caused :-D

The later Head units don't have a SIM card Steve, they have an independent telematics unit. As said, I suspect either battery or there's something making the system think there has been a crash - which would trigger the automatic calling and geolocation, so this may be related to something else like the Airbag ECU - or as said a problem with the telematics unit itself.

@marcosmeanos: a word of caution if you don't know what you're doing with Diagbox - there is no backup for settings so you can leave your car inoperable if you change something that shouldn't regardless if you think something is wrong. Some settings have to be configured to certain settings.

I suggest you have a read here:

Good morning

These are the two fault codes for the telematic that are persistant and will not clear.
FD81 Independent telematic unit internal fault
FD8B Emergency call button fault

aditional codes
B162C 11 accessories positive relay control and status not coherent. youtube says 10amp fuse on F13 so investigating that now as Cigarette lighter not working
and aircon low pressure fault

Next question is on deactivation of the independant telematic unit BTA.

I have investigated (Diagbox 7.62) in Repair mode and under configuration found the following...

Choice of nationality of the driver (English)
Airbag with wire connection (Present)
vehicle power source (Diesel)
(wheel track, radius of wheel, microphone gain, loud speaker compensation etc)
GSM activity detection threshold (0F)

Is it disabled/deactivated on this screen or through the bsi? What setting needs to be altered and finaly will doing this removal of a function (disable of sos telematic) in anyway impact on the airbags, satnav, cd, bluetooth, phone calls etc?

I fully accept that any information given at this point is in good faith and the responsibility of any adjustments made are mine.

Just to confirm.... I do not wish to spend £s on the telematic unit and want to disable it as if the car left the factory with it never fitted.

The telematic unit is integrated with the Airbag control ECU, as I explained in and emergency where the airbags are deployed, so will contact emergency services.

It sounds like the switch on the SOS call button is broken or has been pressed in too hard and is now randomly making contact and initiating a call.

I suggest instead that if you are not intending on replacing the unit and are aware of the consequences of this safety feature not working, then it may be easier to change the emergency number to an invalid number. It may be set to 112 for the EU, so changing that to 000 may be better than changing other settings that may have an impact on other systems.

So is that a in an accident situation it wont call if its deactivated or in an accident situation airbags might not deploy? If its a case of turning off sos will stop airbags then thats not an option im willing to take and Im just trying to get an idea of the knock on effect of turning things on and off.

I appreciate that changing the number idea and it will stop emergency service contact however it wont stop the vehicle from ringing and then complaining it cant connect so good in the short term. Is the number somthing that can be changed on dash or is it in diagnostics only?

I could try getting a sos switch from a brakers to see if it makes a difference so not out of options yet. I have however looked and the telematic unit is over £900 so thats not happening :D

It won't stop the airbags going off. There is just a communication link so that when the airbags are deployed, a signal is sent from the Airbag ECU to the telematics unit to make the call and geolocate you in case you are incapacitated.

Not sure where you got those prices, but for your 508 vehicle it will be one of three variants ranging from either £180, £476 to £618 inc VAT. depending on the specific one fitted to your vehicle.

That was main stealer price in Leicester matey. Would you like me to book it in for you sir? Errrrrrrrr no

Quick hyperthetical question... Is the "Airbag with wire connection (Present)" the only option in the system for the telematics or is it a case of if some one changed that option they would also have to access the airbag ecu or bsi and make a change that corresponds in that area too?

They'll of course be adding labour on - the above are parts only prices, but it shouldn't need any configuring if it retains the calling data numbers.

I can't really answer that 100% without your VIN as there are different options for different systems - some older head units with SIM card and telephone have a wire from the airbag ECU to the back of the head units for the emergency SOS and call assist. Other later cars have an independent telematic unit to handle this.

Yep it was mate, they asked vin and reg then made the car a financial loss with that quote :D

One last attempt at sos as I have a button pack on its way from ebay but failing that I will have to turn it off as I cant afford to spend that much on the system. Not saying its not a good idea when it works but all of us including the kids have phones so will have to do it the old fasion way if anything happens.

I had a quick look through the ecus and found abs and airbags had no options to turn anything on or off, independent telematic unit has Airbag with wire connection (Present) and bsi has independent telematic unit (Present)
If the ebay purchace doesnt bring any joy do I just pm you the vin Marc?

It realy is the last thing holding up my wife from using the car now. Faults from diagbox are to do with the sos system and ac pressure low but the cold air is a job for another day and a man with kit when funds permit.

Sorted B162C 11 accessories positive relay control and status not coherent today. 10amp fuse in passenger side fuse box behind the airbag deactivation switch #-o . One glovebox removal and lots of plastic trim later i could just manage to get the fuse out. That was fun

Ok, so observations I have are:

1) You have the RT6 Head Unit, so this itself does not have anything to do with the airbag system or wires to the airbags.
2) The telematic unit has certain parameters (see below)
3) As you can see some parameters are marked with the (2) which means compulsory. So I can't advise what would happen if you change these values.

I do know that the microphone in the roof of the car will be connected to the ITU (Independent Telematic Unit), which then relays the input onto the RT6 Head Unit, so if the unit is disconnected or removed, or coded out it will likely impact on your ability to use the built-in mic with your hands free Bluetooth phone. So that's something to consider.

Nice one cheers. Might be a case of bsi config only if it needs those perameters left alone in telematics box / diag rescan to confirm its gone / if it persists change the airbag wired preset in telematic to absent / re scan / make a phone call to test mic

I will update on if the switch clears the fault or if the switch fault is due to the telematic box being broken when it is delivered.

Looking up the codes the switch fault is short to ground and after the "new" replacement switch is installed I will find if the short is the switch or the box

Hopefully the last update on this one now.

2nd hand replacement sos/peugeot/alarm switch pack from ebay cleared both the telematic unit fault and the switch fault. Was amazed it cleared the fault on the unit itself but I will take it as a win.

On starting the car the sos no longer flashes red for 60 seconds or so before going out. It gives a solid green for a few seconds and then goes out

Many thanks for all the help on this one
