Misfire 3rd piston - 2011 C4 - 1.6 155 THP

Unread post by tobcio »

Hello everyone,

I have had a small / big problem with my C4 for a short time.

When accelerating / accelerating uphill, the engine jerks quite strongly. If you then go off the gas briefly, you can continue to drive normally. If you do not do this, it completely jerks through and loses performance and the engine control lamp goes on. After a restart, it runs "normal" again.

Then read out the error, P1339 - ignition interruptioner 3. Piston
I changed the spark plugs. The old ones looked very burnt.

Vehicle: C4 II 2011 - 1.6 155 THP

Has anyone already had it and has found a solution? There are already some threads on the Internet, but not necessarily related to Citroen.
Otherwise, what would be the next logical approach here?

Thank you for help!

Best regards

The first thing to try is to swap the coil packs between the cylinders to see if the fault moves.

Note that #1 is at the gearbox end of the engine.

Update from my side in case anyone else notices the same problem.

It was actually the ignition coil, which only gave a weak or almost no spark to the spark plug.
I have now installed the new ignition coils in addition to the new spark plugs (which were probably still good in hindsight) and the car is running like a charm again.

Small side note. The third piston appears to be third from the right/second from the left.

Thanks for your answer xantia!
