After some Googling and trawling forums, I’m feeling a bit pessimistic before asking for help with this.
I recently bought a 2014 208 Active Vti 1.0. Had the bonnet up on the day of purchase (opened while I was there and appeared to work fine). Came to open it today for the first time just to top up the screen wash, nada. No click when I pull the internal lever and the bonnet isn’t releasing. I have the car booked in to a garage for the first service on Monday. I don’t want to present it to them with this problem, so looking for help here on how I might access the cable internally to maybe release the bonnet using pliers and pulling on the cable. I’ve no way of knowing presently whether the cable has broken or come free from the release handle. Reading I’ve done so far suggests it’s not a five minute job to gain access or indeed replace it, which will doubtless be my next task. What I need right now is access to the cable and a quick and temporary fix so I can get under the bonnet. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Sometimes they will let go if you get someone to press down on the bonnet whilst you pull the handle. Otherwise, you will need to go in from underneath and see if you access the mechanism and spring it.

Nice one, get some lubrication on the mech before it jams again!
