Crank and no start

Unread post by dopypuppy »

My 2005 c5 will not start.
I'm a mechanic and happy to do what I can before taking it to a dealer.
I have an engine light and current DTC and no start.
P1433, p1434, p1435, p1442, p1446
I have investigated these and they don't seem to give a no start situation. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Lots of pending faults also. I can list them if it helps.
Has had low battery problems, but has a fresh battery now.
Any issues with these that will not give a DTC and give a no start?
Only have 1 key with a temperamental remote and have not been able to do a BCM reset, working on getting a key first but has dash no lights indicating a BCM issue.
Thank in advance.

Yes what engine you have would be a good start.
Also did it cut out whilst driving or just not start one day?
Why are you saying you cant do a BSI reset?

It would be a good ideal that when people post fault codes that the put the fault description (if they have it) next to the codes to save people having to look them up, most people are unlikely to know all the P codes off the top of their head. This is a generic moan, not specifically directed at the OP as i notice so many people dont do this when posting fault codes. I will often skip replying to posts if this is the case as i dont always have the time to look up 10 fault codes.

1.6l Diesel
Was parked up by the previous owner and wouldn't start after.
Could not do a bsi reset as the remote doesn't work well. Poor contact on the remote battery.
I get you better code descriptions when I can.
AC gass low and emissions stuff is a short summary.

Tell me more about resetting the BSI without the key fob. The instructions on this forum and everywhere on the internet includes holding the fob down for 10 second.

To me, it looks like you only need to press the lock button on the fob to re-synchronise the fob. If the fob is not working it should not affect the rest of the BSI reset procedure.

So you should be fine following the procedure and omitting the fob bits...

Correct, syncing the fob is something that gets done after the reset as the fobs normally become unsynced. Its not essential to the actual reset of the BSI, a bit like having to re set your clock or radio pre sets afterwards.
