Heater blower

Unread post by Brian g »

Hi all
I have a 2011 c4 vti diesel.
The heater blower stopped working a few weeks back and after 5 days it decided to work again but only lasted a few days then stopped again .
I have installed a new regulator and tested the blower motor and wiring into the motor all seems OK but power into regulator is not thier .
I have checked all diagrams for fuses and ant seem to find one allocated to heater any advice would be appreciated

There are 2 possibilities this is likely to be:

1) The blower motor bearings are sticking due to moisture getting in - typically when people don't have the A/C on AUTO all the time, so they start to rust and stick. As the blower motor control modules are designed to spin up the blower motors slowly to start with, there may not be enough power to get the motor turning. This may be why you are likely getting intermittent operation - depending on how much the motor is 'sticking'.

2) The Heater Motor Control Module may be a cheaper version - not sure what brand you bought, but it is well-known here that unbranded modules can often fail to work at all. Stick to a Febi Bilstein or BEHR if possible.

Ok, understood, so just make sure you keep your climate control on AUTO all the time to ensure the cabin moisture is removed.
