DIY with function over finesse!!

I'm wondering if it would help on the inside of outside walls of a friends house which is over 300 years old and has no cavity walls.

I spotted this today, great DIY and no finesse as not even a black tie.

We had a collection yesterday by the Ukrainian truck from the charity warehouse, so with the warehouse emptied I've been working down there today, having finally got the pallet racking delivered. I was able to build it all and set out the pallet arrangement on the lower level but no chance of getting the upper boards up on my own so that will have to wait until we have 3 or even 4 sets of muscles!!

I had another rather different DIY job today which definitely fits the thread title. Due to the actuality I decided against any pics of the job but suffice to say I had a tooth cusp crack on a rear lower molar leaving it a trifle rocky and a bit of ancient filling broke away. The only reason for posting it up here is to show the resolution I chose and it seems to have done the job very well indeed, I now have a filled solid tooth again!!

SWMBO mentioned that the roller door was sticking a bit when she got her car out this morning so I decided to give it a wipe down and lubricate with the silicone lubricant I use. I duly wiped it clean both inside and out and then went to get the silicone lubricant. It wasn't where I left it!! So I decided it was as good a time as any to reorganise my fluids and hopefully find the can I wanted in the process. An hour and a half later I had sprayed the door and now I can find whatever I want quickly:

While settling into another day on the sofa I had a distress call from my friend in Elstree. The issue warranted a visit so I had to get my jacket on and head down there. I won't bother saying anymore, I'll let you work it out for yourselves from the following two pictures:

Understatement of the year there Steve I believe it originally had a dishwasher connected as well, which has since been removed, but the facility to reconnect been left in situ. However I intend to replace the entire back of the sink unit in the warmer weather to get rid of all the patches!!

Gosh! That's a bit of plumber's nightmare Mick! That is horrific. My OCD has gone ballistic I trust you've done it all properly now? If not, let me know and I'll be happy to help you do so, you know my plumbing skills

I had a related adventure today... After spending a lovely morning with Autumn at soft play, I then attended to her mum's broken washer/drier... A posh Samsung job.

Error message: Blocked filter...

Autumn's dad had already checked the filter and dragged one of Autumn's socks out of it but that did not fix it...

Long, messy story short, I found the drain pipe clogged along all its length with soggy fluff and the impellers in both the main and condensate drain pumps jammed solid with lumpy fluff and other debris, including an elastic bands...

Happily, Samsung make the pumps easy to dismantle and clean - whether deliberately or not I don't know but I'm quite impressed with the build quality and fixability of the machine... The pump assembly was quite easy to remove and reinstall in the machine.

All the fluff gathering in the pumps and drain pipework do make me wonder if condensing washer/driers are such a good idea. All the fluff is what you'd find in a conventional tumble drier filter but when it's wet its pump and pipe clogging potential is considerable... Looks like I may have landed myself a regular maintenance job now!
