Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
Thanks Jim, as I had guessed.
Did used to use teletext but not for decades now.
I turned the TV on a couple of years ago and couldn't get it to find a station.
Then accidentally pushed the D/A button. Worked then. Had forgotten that there was no analoge signal any more.
Dozens of buttons, no clue what half of them do. It will also control other LG things, DVD players, VHS recorders and the like.
Years ago now I bought a Leowe TV and the remote for that was insane, there are 49 buttons on this one and must have been at least 60 on that.
Just counted them - some are dual function of course. What on earth is Q-view? Reveal?
I shoud sit down and press them all one day. Or not.
When I do watch it it is a bit of a nightmare with a remote for the TV, one for each DVD player and one for the stereo - I always pipe the sound through the stereo, much better than the TV speakers.
That came on at max vol when I tried the coloured buttons. No idea why as the TV speakers are always muted otherwise.
Almost as mysterious as a Mazda Six.

Thoroughly agree with the comments above, I think when buying a car in the future it may wise to buy popular variants rather than the "Special" models. CItroen have never been popular in the UK, which is why getting parts for my wife's 16 year old Corsa is much easier than for my 12½ year old C5.

I run two cars, a 20 year old Subaru and a 30 year old Mazda. Both are pretty rare now as you can see in the charts below borrowed from 'How Many Left?' website. I have been able to find most service parts I've needed without difficulty and so far other spares have been located with a bit of effort and ingenuity. The Subaru has now covered 132400 miles and the Mazda just 68470 so with proper maintenance I expect them both to last a fair bit longer yet. Cosmetic parts are the main problem, even from the breakers I have not yet found a sunroof trim to cover the ends of the roof lining on the Subaru despite a constant nearly 4 year search from when I bought the car in COVID.
I have fitted a BMW fluid cooler for the Mazda power steering, documented on the Car DIY thread, and replaced the boot trim clips with generic ones but other than that no real problems.

Q-view is a new one on my Steve but the 'Reveal' was again associated with Teletext. There were little quizzes on it where you could see the answers by pressing the Reveal button. Maybe the Q-View button is related to that. Show the question and then Reveal to see the answer?
Pressing all remote buttons is a great way to see off a rainy afternoon!
I know what you mean about the mysteries of the Mazda... There's still bits of my C3 I'm still discovering!

CEEFAX lives !!
My brother in law put me on to this as he knows that chap that runs the website. It's been going for a year or two.
Fully interactive CEEFAX that uses the live BBC webshite as its source.
You can either use the on-screen 'remote' or your own keyboard to enter the page numbers.

Re: Catch All - the place for anything you want to discuss off a specific topic
Our family friend whose dog we looked after, before having to look after the FILs due to bad health, told my 14yr old son he wanted a fire stick. Fire stick ordered an delivered and set up by my son at our home. My son gave him a big tutorial on how it works and what to do. He was tested many times by my son, how do you do this etc. He took it home and couldn't get it connected to the back of his TV. He came round, asked for advice and he managed to do it himself. Next day, he came round and said it wouldn't connect, son went round and connected it in less than 10seconds. Tonight he was round because his TV went on standby and can't get the fire stick working, my son has gone with him to fix it. My son has just got back and it's all sorted. Turns out he was holding the on/off button for to long! The guys 63 and not an idiot, what will I be like with modern tech in 25yrs!!??

OK... All I am going to say is that my actual chronological, apparent and mental ages are all wildly different... The lowest being the last by a huge margin
