DS5 indicator took in water and died

Unread post by hopalong525 »

I am looking for a replacement scrolling LED indicator light, drivers side for my 2016 DS5 if anyone knows where I can get one at a reasonable price. Water got in during heavy rain and the light has blown completely. Thanks

Breakers or a dealer - you won't get these elsewhere as they are bespoke components.

Yes, difficult to locate. I’d have expected the Chinese to have copied these but no sadly

The dealer part may well be made in China these days, I bought some Citroen brake pads a few months ago from the dealer and on the box it said made in China.

You’re probably right and the dealer is making a 500% profit.

Brake pads are one thing but bespoke body parts / lights are entirely different - it's not economically viable to make fakes / copies of these given the very small numbers they would likely sell.

Try AliExpress. The DS5 was fairly popular in China, so you may find non-original or used ones on there. There's loads of irrelevant crap in the search results, so you'll need to wade unfortunately.

I don't think there's an overall issue with them, so hopefully any used one should be OK. Perhaps yours got a knock or a pebble.

You can get one from the dealer or a scrappy. As I said previously, bespoke body parts are unlikely to be found elsewhere as not economically viable to copy and produce.

Parts and replacements will only become rarer and more expensive now as production ended probably before 2018 (where they were probably selling off and running down stocks) so I can't see the situation improving.
