Aha a message from next year!! Yes you can get them here Alec, I've driven an i30 but not the i40, while the styling is clearly German influenced I suspect they may be a better ride !! Happy New Year!!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Yes real estate prices are high - but avoiding capital cities overcomes the worst of the problem. We solved the heat issue well in advance by moving to Armidale 30 years ago - 1,000 metres above sea level! It did get very hot even up here in 2019 (during the worst drought in over 100 years), but Armidale people complain about the heat when it hits 30C!bobins wrote: 31 Dec 2023, 14:11

There's been a couple of articles on the BBC in recent days about how all is not quite so well in Aus, Jim. It appears property prices down there are now on a par with Mayfair on the the Monopoly board, and average summer temperatures in the cities are now only slightly below that found on the surface of the sun![]()
The Great Dividing Range runs parallel with the East coast along it's complete length, so there are plenty of towns and cities "up in the hills" where the climate is just right! Land's End to John O'Groats is 970 km, while the Great Dividing Range is 3,500 km long, so plenty of room yet
Now being from the future, I can tell that Mick is starting to feel guilty about a lack of pictures in the "Picture(s) of the Day" thread, so hopefully this view from our front door will redress the balance (although due to distortions in the space/time continuum, he may never see it)!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I am conscious of too many pictureless posts today so to get back on track here is a shot of a car I had cause to mention elsewhere on the forum today

Happy New Year to you all too!
Yes we live in the future down here Mick, and it's great (although so far I can report that 2024 looks pretty much the same as 2023) but we can never quite catch those New Zealanders, who are always 2 hours ahead of us!
In fact we are off to the NZ South Island on Wednesday to investigate, so I'll report when I can, although I fear we'll be so far in the future that my messages may get lost in the ether! Wonder where Mike (xantia_V6) is at this time of year?
I just went and checked our front door, and can confirm that it still looks the same as it did last year!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I'm pretty sure he is in New Zealand at the moment which is how he is able to carry out maintenance on the forum while us northerners are in bed (excluding Jim of course!
). If memory serves me correctly you may be able to find him somewhere around Christchurch if you PM him before you get there! Have a good trip!

Thanks Mick - we are flying in to Queenstown, and won't be going any further North than that, so I'll leave Mike in peace.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
And a very Happy New Year from me
Sorry it's a bit late but I've only just completed my day's work so can now relax and have a look at the forum now...
It cracked off before daybreak when we were out in the woods setting up the parkrun course for the New year's Day special...
We came across this poor forlorn scooter in the middle of our path, looking very tired...
We didn't know whether to call for a mechanic or put the wretched thing out of its misery...
In the end we moved it to the side so it was clear of our runners and to express its thanks/disgruntlement it emitted a few strangled squawks...
