I recently bought a 2004 Peugeot 407 2.0 HDi (4-door sedan).
I've noticed that the button to open the boot/trunk does not work.
Remote works ok, locks, unlocks and opens the boot. I've already removed the button and checked it with a multimeter, when I press, there is continuity between the two wires on the button, but when I press it, nothing happens. I've also tried jumping the contacts of the wires, but nothing happens either way.
I've noticed that the wires are connected to a control module (two wires to the button and three wires to the trunk lock). I've tested all these 5 wires, they all have perfect continuity, but the button on the key fob works and the button on the lid does not.
Is there any configuration in the car computer that disables the opening from that button? Could there be something I can try?
I have access to a Diagbox scantool if that would help in any way.
Thanks in advance for any help.

With Diagbox/PP you should be able to see under live data id the BSI can 'see' the button being pressed.
Are you saying you have checked the continuity of the wire from the 0 switch to the BSI in behind the dashboard?
The other wire on the 0 switch should be earth. Is the wiring ok where it passes from the tailgate to the body?

I'm not sure about the BSI behind the dashboard. On my car, the wires connect to a ECU in the left side of the boot. I'll post a photo when I get to the car.wheeler wrote: 19 Dec 2023, 07:33 With Diagbox/PP you should be able to see under live data id the BSI can 'see' the button being pressed.

The wires connect to this box.
All the wires have continuity from the tailgate to the body (all of them connect to this ECU on the left side).

I would have expected that the signal from the 0 button would go straight to the BSI.
Do you have the VIN & i can look at a wiring diagram?

Re: Peugeot 407 "0" button not opening boot/trunk
I solved the problem yesterday. It was easier than I tought:
Some post I read mentioned an option on the car's on-board computer called "Boot Permanent Lock". That option wasn't available on my car, it didn't even show up.
On Diagbox, there was a similarly named configuration, it was disabled, i tried enabling it, disabling again, nothing seemed to change.
Later, I tried PP2000 and on the configuration menu there was a quick explanation on what it did and it was something like "Enables Boot permanent lock configuration on car computer".
So, that was the correct configuration, on the OBD (PP2000/Diagbox) the option "Boot Permanent Lock" must be ENABLED. Doing that makes it so that the "Boot Permanent Lock" option shows up on the car's configuration screen, it was marked, so I disabled it there and after that, the button started working as it should.
This configuration is somewhat cryptic and it threw me off, so for anyone wondering, if you have a 407 Sedan (or Coupe) and the button doesn't work, make sure "Boot Permanent Lock" is ENABLED on Diagbox and DISABLED on the car's screen.
Thanks!
