Picture(s) of the Day...random review of 2023

The FCF's perennial favourite thread Picture(s) of the Day gathers a wealth of interesting contributions and moves on on a daily basis. From time to time I like to dredge some of those gathering dust contributions from the archives selected by the random hand. So this is a repeat of the 2020 exercise for the current year 2023.

I like randomness as a tool, soon as you introduce bias and logic the magic is lost, and you start implying some sort of rank or merit to the selections. Totally against my own view of Picture of the day, it is for contributions and there never is any threshold of photographic excellence, or of perceived interestingness to others of the subject matter.

Went round for my car, usually fill it up at the end of the month. Started raining as I was 100yds from home, rained all the way there but no matter, I was coming back in the car, except I wasn't as it is missing. Rained all the way back until 100 metric yards from home again the brilliant sunshine.

Can't recall the last time I saw any of these.

One of mine, cloud inversion. The long flatish-top hump is The Cheviot, the sticky up bit is Hedgehope Hill which is 300 ft lower than the Cheviot, but looks higher on the photo.

I'd spotted the rear window down (but incorrectly assumed it was just a "keep fit" manual winder type!)

There is one way to sort the front out, like this:

I'd imagine the problem with back end of a car as a trailer is generally not enough rear overhang, and so easily becomes quite nose-heavy if you've brought too much of the donor car across.
I'm not sure how well that twin axle Capri would take tight turns, with a fair gap between those axles, imagine quite a bit of scuffing goes on!
Love the idea of if all the same!

Beadnell this afternoon rough sea, plenty of waves and spume and a dramatic sky, and a few miles up the coast, Budle bay just past Bamburgh, calm as a mill pond, but a natural "harbour" away from the crashing breakers some distance away looking over towards Lindisfarne.
