ZX suspension

Unread post by rabenson »

Hi All,
Just noticed that with my car on the drive, the driver's side is sitting lower than the other (maybe 10-15mm) - seems the same front and back. Is this a problem? Any theories?
I had the rear bushes etc. done about 40k ago and an new shocker fitted to the n/s front about 10k ago. Other than looking a bit odd (if you look carefully) it drives perfectly

Could be broken front spring (replace both), soft rear torsion bar (should be adjustable but not easy) or other rear problem, collapsed subframe mount or perhaps rust around the front turrets (not common but holes can appear behind the PAS reservoir and on the other side)

There was a thread on this a while back - quoting almost the same number. Out of interest I went and measured the ZX TD we had at the time - and found the same. So it looks like they could all be like that (perhaps I should check the current one)! It may well be simply to do with the weight of the engine being offset - on LHD cars this would be compensated by the driver being on the other side, but is compounded on RHD cars. Just have a check to make sure the spring is OK. Otherwise, find a large passenger to counterbalance it [:o)]

Jeremy, I've had a look at the front springs and they both seem ok, similarly the turrets. Hope you are right, Richard - sounds definitely the least expensive option ;-)
