Peugeot 306 - Fault Code Translation

Hi I have a 2.0 HDI 306 and it has a few fault codes showing. I have had a search online but I dont really see much compared to the VAGS i am used where most results will return reliable information. Can anyone shed any light on the most likely causes?

The car does intermittingly have the EML on the dash along with the STOP! light on the dash. I also had to jump start it yesterday and noticed the rev counter needle jumping erratically (out of sync) and the mileage no longer being displayed. The temperature gauge also didn't seen to reach operating temperature if move at all from cold.
Idle doesn't seem smooth from cold. Clutch pedal is very heavy but doesnt seem to slip.

P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction

P1521 Clutch Connector

P1517 Theft protection

P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

Given the failure to reach operating temp within a set period length of time, you would expect a P0115 code to be set for that. To check if it's the thermostat, IIRC, the test is to measure coolant and radiator temps together, starting the engine from cold. If they rise together, then this means the thermostat is the likely culprit and is probably stuck open or at least not fully closing. I'd assume the heater isn't blowing much heat either? Edit: Of course, it could just be that the coolant temp sensor has failed - but maybe in such a way that it's giving low readings rather than high readings.

Have you had the car for long? Did you see these faults appear separately over time, or did they all appear all of a sudden, more or less together?
Not seeing any direct relation between the P0115 and P1521 codes, but the P0191 and P1517 codes suggest to me there could be a faulty fuel pressure regulator and/or sensor.

Edit: I had an array of codes for all sorts of apparently unrelated things (including things like brake pedal position sensor faults and VSS faults), but eventually figured out I had a bad battery. Replaced it and all was good.

What scanner are you using? Diagbox is best, but I got along OK with just "FAP" (Android App specifically for PSA group cars, available from the Amazon app store) and "Car Scanner", another Android app. Any decent, low latency OBD bluetooth dongle is good enough - they can be had for €25 or so. FAP will give you the coolant and oil temps and fuel pressure, and you can check the live data on them over time. For more complete codes (including the additional two-digits at the end, which can be helpful with some codes), the Android app "Car Scanner" is handy and even gives me Freeze Frame data, although it's pretty limited. I only recently bought a Lexia cable with Diagbox myself, and while it's night and day as far as details and features are concerned, the FAP and Car Scanner apps are perfectly fine for the day-to-day stuff, although I haven't tried using them on older Pugs.

Hope you get it sorted - the 306 is a lovely car. The *05 and *06 models were mostly brilliant. I had a 406 for 10 years and that's the one car I still miss.

I forgot to mention that the fans do seem to run from the get go when the car is started. There is a great heater inside the car however. Do they only have the one coolant sensor?

Its a Delphi scanner I am using, I have never owned anything French before but it done the job for everything else I had. But I will have a look into get those few mentioned. I will also try a different battery in it just to rule that out, thanks!

Regarding the fans running from the get go, i am guess you may have the settings set to demist the windscreen.
Not 100% sure if you will get a light on but Peugeot/Citroen cars turn the A/C on when set to demist the screen and the fans come on as part of the A/C operation.

Ok, as it turns out, after running those codes against your specific vehicle, none of them are valid codes according to Peugeot for this exact vehicle. So they are either incorrect or not applicable to this vehicle, so not sure which diagnostic tool was being used to obtain them? Can't really help in this case sorry, as the codes are specific to the engine type and Engine ECU fitted.
