If you need an official part, your membership provides for this, so just ask on the parts thread in future to ensure you get the correct part:

(1) Front Window Wiper Motor Right (RHD Vehicle only), part: 6405LA, £453.55
(2) Front Window Wiper Motor Left (RHD Vehicle only), part: 6405LE, £453.55

Be careful buying aftermarket parts as left hand drive vehicles have different motors for the left and right side and differ from right hand drive vehicles so cannot be interchanged!

But mine doesn't have the external wiper linkage?

Did they change the design at some point? The eBay listing matches closely otherwise.. Both 2009 estates
this looks like out of a ford galaxy or pug 5008. if so I have been told they work as well just haven't tried it. Hoping someone else will To be honest

Thanks!

I bought the right part.. Fitted it last night...

And it's still broken.

Granted the second hand part looked a little worse for wear, so it could be that.. But seems unlikely.

What's the next thing I can check?

How did you determine that this was the motor that needed replacing? Did you run a proper reading for errors using a Diagbox or similar high end code reader?

Well I tried the magnet trick which didn't work.. So seemed like motor was next likely option.

I guess I should go get it plugged in to a computer?

Yes, absolutely. As was said earlier on, a faulty master motor can give the impression that the slave is not working properly.

Doh, sorry! I must have just skim read it and not paid attention. Oops!

On the plus side I took the drivers side motor apart, pushed the magnet back down..and it worked fine for a 45 minute journey.

It was a lot more temlrimental before and would only last a few minutes, so it might have fixed it..

I'll nip down to the garage tomorrow and see if they have a fault code reader anyway

Garage couldn't find any faults.. Granted it wasn't a lexia so might have missed them.

But still working so far. Fingers crossed the magnet trick was all it took.

Thanks for the help everyone! :)

Ok well that was short lived.. The fault is back.

Will go to a citroen specialist tomorrow to make sure they have the right computer to plug in...

I did noticed I can move the drivers side wiper by hand. Whereas the passenger side one is impossible to move...

I'm assuming the drivers side might have an internal issue? Give that it's a worm gear, I don't think you should be able to move it by hand?

I did have a quick look inside and it all seemed OK. No obvious damage..

If you can move the wiper by hand, then first thought would be to check that it is firmly attached to the drive shaft.

As you said it relies on a worm drive so unless something has really broken up, it should not be possible to move the wiper arm with no power on.

To test the motors it is best to power them without the wipers attached. Mark across the end of the shaft with tippex or a visible reference of your choice so that you can check that the movement is or is not happening.

Can the failed motor be cannibalised for broken parts?

Listen for any noise coming from the motor housings as you splash the windscreen sensor, it will indicate a sign of life or otherwise.

Hope that helps.
If it can happen it will.

Took it apart again and couldn't see anything loose unfortunately.

Rang around a few garages and they were all chocka and couldn't get me in. One auto electrician reckoned it might not show up on the computer, and said just swap the motor anyway.

So I have, seems to be working now.

First motor from the scrapyard wouldn't move at all (it just twitched slightly). Fortunately was still outside so I got them to swap it out.

Fingers crossed that's all it was! Time will tell..
