I have most of the series on DVD. Still occasionally watch it and enjoy it greatly when I do...

Thanks - amazed at the lack of traffic - must have done that drive in the wee small hours?

Often quite quiet there. I grew up there and should have recognised the roads but didn't until he was almost at my brother's house. He has some interesting recent storm videos too.

You may not know this but Cpt. James Cook lived there and sailed from there. It was he who invented Australia

Yes I did know - all part of the Captain Cook mystique! We did visit Yorkshire while living in England for 2 years in the early 90s (York, Newcastle, and visited wife's relatives in Morpeth), but sadly didn't make it to Whitby.

For the record, we lived at Portchester and Wallington, while I worked for IBM at Cosham.

Amazingly it snowed twice in our first winter there (1990-91).

Photos of our youngest on our driveway in Buriton Close, Portchester and better snow at the near-by village of Buriton.

Locals thought our kids would be really excited to see snow, but we had been living in Canberra, and our kids had seen more snow than kids of their age from Hampshire.

Don't know where this forum gets it's spell checker, but while it's happy with York, Newcastle and Whitby, it doesn't like Portchester, Wallington, Cosham or Buriton. Seems like it has a bit of a North Country bias...

Ah ha yes, people think and assume all of Australia is all hot, red and like Alice and Sydney...

When I was in Darwin, up in the top of the Top End, I'd have my daily chat with my opposite number in Canberra and during the winter/dry season he'd be shivering in deep snow and deeply negative temperatures and I'd be sweating my balls off in tropical heat dressed in formal shorts and tee :)

Two towns in the same country...

Cyprus had a similar situation... During winter, I could ski on top of Mount Olympus in the morning and then drive down to the beach and go for a swim in the sea in the afternoon. Barely 40 miles distant but almost 2000m different in elevation...

It is more likely to be your browser spellchecker.
I have my OS spelling as UK English and also select the same on the browser but every time I reboot I have to reset the Google spellcheck to UK English.
Even then there are many that default to US English and have to be taught the right way.

It is most likely due to my running a cleaner each evening before shutting down (BleachBit) that wipes all the cookies and tons of other crap. The browsers are all set to do the same.
