Re: Picture(s) of the day....
A classic example of a dry joint
Found whilst investigating the reason for a bit of intermittency on one channel whilst listening to vinyl...
A classic early 70s Trio tuner/amp rescued several years ago from a skip... That it's made by Trio ages it. Not long after this one was made Trio changed their name to Kenwood.
No connection with the Kenwood who made classic food mixers... Of which I have a very much loved one...
I also have another Trio. a 1970s HF Amateur Radio transceiver...

Before I could do the repair I had to repair my soldering iron... The fuse-holder had fallen to bits...
Ironically, I needed a soldering iron to repair my soldering iron

Re: Picture(s) of the day....

THAT time of the year again... Did a full restomod on this thing over the summer, thought the auger paddles were still good but nope looks like I`ll be needing a fresh set, problem being the manufacturer of this blower no longer exists so I need to order something close enough to modify to fit.

A ring around the moon tonight. Ice crystals, apparently. Take a closer look at the photo, the halo is quite large.

It's like that here too, rather unusually. Even the odd star.
Very rare to see stars here. I have been trying to catch the earthlink satellites for a couple of years now and have failed miserably, it always seems to cloud over in the evening, as it did today after being bright and sunny. It has cleared a bit now.

According to Google that bright star close to the Moon is the planet Venus.

Another nice contribution there Bobins, the moon was/is big and photogenic tonight. Not quite full that's this MondayNewcastleFalcon wrote: 21 Oct 2023, 11:36 With the nights drawing in, this is one of the best times of year to experiment with a bit of atmospheric, twilight, evening and night-time shutter clicking. As ever no inhibiting threshold of photographic excellence or interestingness.

Amazing what the tech in your pocket can do!! This was strong enough here this evening to see by eye, despite the almost full moon. Bloody freezing though.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
We had quite the light show up here in Finland as well, pity the cameras on the rugged phones I tend to use aren`t capable of capturing stuff like the northern lights.
