Apparently, mine is 4.8% with hints of coffee and berries.

Boiler condensate.... Whilst the water is pure when 'made' it's in contact with a lot of CO2 which dissolves in the water and then dissociates to carboxyl acid. The stenching agent in the gas is sulphur based, good chance this makes sulphuric acid in contact with the water. Not to mention it will pick up any dust and debris sucked in with the air, and any bits of heat exchanger that 'fall off'. Def to be disposed of carefully, not in copper or cast iron pipes (it will eat both!), or put in cars or steam irons....

Enjoyable Segway into recycling boiler condensate (following the lead from the bargain basement Micra coolant replacement to here)

I thought the boiler condensate wasn't suitable due to sulphur but couldn't remember why - obvious now others have mentioned that's why natural gas smells how it does!

I stick finest Lancashire rain water in my cars, I think I read something about less fluoride (?? Or chlorine? Or something) than tap water.

Having said that I also will give the system a good flush through with the hosepipe ( "until the juices run clear" ) so likely there's a good amount of whatever Untied Utilities has to offer (sometimes with added freebies: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-l ... e-40656173 = thankfully a rare addition!)

Grange Villa
As with other colliery villages, there was very little of Grange Villa before the Alma Pit was opened in 1858.

Owned by James Joicey, the Alma Pit was named after the Battle of the Alma, which was fought during the Crimean War and took place on 20 September 1854. In 1872, a brickworks was opened, between the colliery and the Twizell.

It may have been then that the Twizell was diverted to make room on the bank. Certainly, once the brickworks appear on the map in 1895, the burn follows a straighter course around the new buildings.

The bricks from Alma Brickworks were stamped ‘Joicey West Pelton’ and were used to build local houses, including much of Craghead Front Street. Both the Alma Pit and the brickworks closed in 1921 and the population of Grange Villa declined as families moved elsewhere looking for work.

...Popularly known on Tyneside as "Jimmy Joicey" and "Old King Coal", Joicey was reputed to have been the largest coal-owner in the world.

In later life Joicey bought of Ford Castle in Northumberland and the Etal Castle Estate in 1906 which became his family home. Plenty Falcon originals of Ford and Etal, a very pleasant area to visit.

This is one impressive castle.
