Agree, but it seems strange that may early turbo diesels didn't have an intercooler - early on they were very very low boost and efficiency/ more effective filling of the cylinders was the aim (e.g. VW Golf mk 2 early "umwelt" turbo diesels no intercooler and only modest step up in power from the non turbos. I think the proud "intercooler" badging (of a different scale!) Was on the Volvo lorries too.
I suppose counter view, it's amazing how advanced the HDi engine was, yet the 90 bhp models made do without one!
