noise after breaking on xsara

Help please, I have got a 1.9 d xsara 1998
I have notice recently that when I break I can hear sometimes ( not always...) like a small bang or clanking noise coming from the back....it seems to be coming a second or two after applying the brakes..
Any ideas anybody, cheers. Franck..

i would think something is wrong in rear drums,without taking them of no telling what it is exactly regards malcolm

Hi Franck,
I don't know if your problem will exactly the same as mine, but for me it was the brake pads and disks that were in a pittyfull state. I should have checked.
It cost me £54 in part plus labour. From what I understand they are quite easy to change and you should be able get them on Ebay for much cheaper.
So check them and if you're lucky that'll be it...
