Hi all,
New DS driver here - since August. DS4 E-Tense Cross Opera. This may be a niche issue but...I have a HiBy R5 Sabre (Android based) mass storage device for my music. It's BT built off Android 8.1. It worked (almost) flawlessly with my former car (2020 Honda Civic) connecting via BT albeit I wasn't able to control the song choice, playlists etc. from the Infortainment system - but I didn't have any BT issue.
The DS4 is another matter - sometime the two (car & HiBy) talk to each other and connect / play music, other times they don't (I still can't control the song choice or select playlists etc. from the Infotainment screen) - but the most annoying thing is the constant BT dropouts. Totally random - I may get 20 seconds of music before BT drops out or I may get 20 minutes. Today I had dropouts after about 15 seconds, (turn BT off / on on the HiBy) and music for 20 minutes before dropout, (turn BT off / on) and music for less than 5 minutes. Infuriating.
Have also tried connecting as a mass storage device (front passenger side USB port I think) and the HiBy isn't recognised as a device (have tried the rear ports too - same result).
Don't know if it's a HiBy issue, a DS issue or just incompatibility between different versions of Android (I'm assuming the DS system is Android based). I have no issues connecting the HiBy to my BT headphones or the various speakers we have around the house.
Both the car and the HiBy are running the most recent software updates.
Any advice or suggestions welcome. I really don't want to shell out another £500 for a music device unless I absolutely need to. Interestingly, my wife's Ipod Touch has no issues connecting / reconnecting and no dropouts.
Cheers all.

No the DS is not Android Based whatsoever. These telematics units use a variant of automotive UNIX on most systems.
Your issue is likely your choice of mobile. PSA only guarantee operability with certain phones - but not all, and the one you have is probably one of the more obscure Chinese phones.

Delayed response - apols.
I may have confused folk - it's not my phone that the issue - that a Galaxy S21+ (though it doesn't connect to the MyDS app very well but that's another issue!). My prob is with my mass storage music player - it's a HiBy so a reasonably well known manufacturer of these kinds of devices. The weird thing is it works at time and not at others. I was using WinAmp as my audio player app but decided to try the HiBy built-in player and bizarrely, that works better. So I'm wondering whether it's a software thing (an issue with the WinAmp app maybe). Anyway, going to persevere with the HiBy app and see what happens - no disconnections either last night on the way home or today on the way to work. As I said in my post, a niche issue - does anyone else use a mass storage music device (not an apple device - they seem more stable) either via BT or a wired connection. If so, which device and which app?
Related aside, is there a list of DS approved devices somewhere I can check mine against?
Thanks again.

Re: 2023 DS4 Bluetooth issues
Right, I think I see what you were referring to - this isn't a smartphone but a bluetooth media device.
DS really only support media players connected via USB (Media content of iPod® type) according to the handbook, or approved smartphones. So I would expect issues with one of these devices as it's not exactly standard and the bluetooth protocols used may not work 100% as they are designed for phones and phone music streaming.
They won't have any of these devices listed on the compatibility list as it's only for phones.

OK, cheers Marc. Will persevere - if the HyBy app proves to be stable, I'll stick with that. Cheers.
