I recently bought a c2 1.6hdi for daughter.
Brought it back and had no end of work done to it.
Timing belt.
Ball joints
Suspension
Clutch and flywheel
Etc
Had it back from the mechanic for 2 weeks.
It started developing an intermittent rev.
Now.
It has progressed to a problem, where it starts and idles at 1200 revs. But there is no response to the accelerator.
If you drive it on the clutch, when you move into 3rd it will accelerate again.
But then top out at about 40, before losing all revs again and just sitting at 1200 revs
It has two fault codes, one is related to glow plugs.
Can't remember the other.
And they weren't scanned by a lexia.
It drove fine with these codes for a while, and these codes came a week after all the work.
The mechanic has it currently.
But can't get to the bottom of it.
If you press the brake pedal, revs drop to normal 800rpm.
Have searched and searched but can't find anything.
Does anyone recognise these symptoms.
Is there anyone local to Manchester with lexia??
All help appreciated

Re: C2 hdi no reving problem
Need some help again.
I have the issue back again.
I fixed by replacing the map sensor.
The issue came back, and if the plug was unplugged it would drive as normal.
Now it just sits at 1200 revs.
I have ordered a new map, but don't believe this will fix it.
There is a 2570 code.
If you press the brakes the engine revs drop.
I'm stumped now.
Desperate for some help

Re: C2 hdi no reving problem
1200 rpm is the default if the message from the throttle pedal is not right or not present. Surprised it hasn't thrown a code for it though... Cheap enough 2nd hand to just chuck another one at it, but a scanner that can read live data should show the signals.

That's even more annoying then.
Because I had one and the map fixed the issue.
So I sent it back

Re: C2 hdi no reving problem
Well eventually I found the right pedal.
Swapped it over and just the same.
Sits at 1200 rpm
No response to the throttle.
When unplugging the original.
There is a sweet spot where it will sit at idle.
But if you let go of the plug it sits at 1200 again.
Also at a loss to explain why it would run fine with the MAP unplugged for a few months.

Re: C2 hdi no reving problem
Sounds like the wiring is broken at or in the plug.
No idea about the MAP!!

Re: C2 hdi no reving problem
Not sure if its the same on the C2 but on the C3 there is a connector behind the glovebox its basically an extension loom from where the car is made into right hand drive, the connector is identical to the one on the pedal & its located in the area where the pedal would be on a LHD model. On early C3's these were known to be problematic & the solution was to cut the connector out & solder the wires direct.
The C2 & C3 are pretty much identical electrically so i would imagine they are the same. may be worth chopping this connector out to be on the safe side.

Cheers.
I'll give this a look as well.
Might plug accelerator in to that one see if it works

No joy with the LHD plug option.

Re: C2 hdi no reving problem
Looks as though this might be going to a scrapheap in the sky.
New pedal didn't solve the problem.
Stripped the plug back.
If I use all the wires separately into the pedal.
I get revs back if I leave the green wire out.
If I plug in the green wire I get 1200 solid revs.
If the green wire is left out I have engine management fault.
Only code is still 2570
With 1351 pending
