Issue wirh Ad blue tank - P20E8 + automatic braking system fault

Unread post by Pingouinos »

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I could not find a topic exactly similar to mine so I am posting. Sorry in advance if already existing and thank you for directing me to it.

I have a Peugeot 308 Gt from 2016.
After a holiday in France where the car stayed in an airport car park for 3 weeks (when it was a little bit hot) I took the road back to the UK.
Around 3/5 in my journey, the service light came on with check engine light + urea light.
After some miles the Urea started to blink.

I bought a basic ODB reader and got the code P20E8 (low pressure in the urea tank) and I had a countdown from 750 miles.
I needed the car so I reset the light.
I drove a little bit and the light came back but the countdown came back to 750 miles from 250 miles before reset.

Now today I remove the ad blue tank cap turn on the engine and no fault came but suddenly a "automatic braking system" fault came out of the blue but not the urea +service+motor one.
Took the road, drove some miles and service + motor+urea came back but for now the urea is not blinking of the urea word.

I read again the fault and have only one the P20E8 but no fault code for the ((A)) fault (automatic braking system).

Now I am wondering to I have a fault with my tank as would suggest the P20E8 code or might I have an electrical issue somewhere that is why the ((A)) code came out from nowhere and for no reason at the start today?

Any opinion?

Thank you

There can be multiple reasons with this fault code, from the UREA Cap, the UREA level, the harness, a software download, the DeNox sensor, etc. etc. Normally Diagbox is used to follow the guided diagnostics and apply the recommendations, but it may require replacement of one or more parts. So I would suggest you get it into the dealer for this reason, as the system, is highly sensitive and a generic code reader will not have the capabilities to do anything useful. It may save you money in the long run getting a proper dealer-level diagnostic and repair.

Thank you for your feedback give me a break.

I brought it to a garage this Sunday before the ((A)) appeared and he said to me I need replacement of the tank for low pressure.

But then yesterday the light turned off alone and the ((A)) lighted on.
As the light turned off alone without anything from me, Is it possible that the pump is still good?

For sure the reader was giving low pressure in adblue tank but I m just confuse on why it turned off alone (I am not sure that a malfunctioning pump can function properly again).
I would like to avoid the situation where they do not want to dig further in the matter and just go straight for the easy expansive solution to replace the Tank.

It is approximately £1300-£1500 to change it so I want to be sure that I have exhausted all possibilities before changing it.

Thank you

Then I suggest you take it to Peugeot for a proper diagnostic to determine if it is the tank (the pump is part of the tank), or the injector, or the heated urea pipe blocked etc. as you don’t want to guess.
