Could I have part numbers for both rear brake cables please?

Thanks Matt - yes I found that when searching how to change them... Doh... #-o

So what I actually need is the part No. for the motor and cables assembly then...

I have found a lot of sites list the part, but they all say 2011-2016 so I am wondering if it's a different part on the early cars?

Ah, I'd not spotted, Marc has kindly given you/us the part numbers in the thread (viewtopic.php?p=774285#p774285 but copied here for ease of reference:

As Matt eluded to Chris (now posted here: viewtopic.php?t=76480), they are only available from Citroen as part of the complete electronic handbrake assembly.

(2) Handbrake Mechanism
Original Part: 470208
Superseded (removal of emergency release cable), part: 1612865480, £1358.58
(73) Closer, part: 698343, £0.92
As well as moved us out as off topic - thanks Marc! :)

Worth checking what's damaged ( assuming it's a garage perhaps in the usual "knuckle joints" level of clarity! :) ) there's a white plastic component on each cable that can also fail - these too aren't available separately but can be found online

Gosh fair old price inflation going on, complete unit said to be £970 in 2018, now £1358! Swines!

Scratch that, seems it has a part number, this seller lists it as 471911

OK well in that case... I will give a try and order the one Marc has specified :)

I got completely confused for a moment, as I did not realise it had been split out to a new thread... its easy to confuse me! :rofl2:

I called the garage (different one this time  ) and they confirmed that it's the cables, and not the plastic parts. However it seems to me a good idea to sort it all while I am in there.

I am not spending £1360 though :o - I have found some pattern part ones on a lot of sites for £200- £300 and I'll try one of those...

This one looks good value and is the fastest delivery I can find.

https://www.onbuy.com/gb/p/470218-parki ... w4QAvD_BwE

I'll order two of the retainers too.

The Polish site mentioned in the thread above seems still up and running.

https://allegro.pl/oferta/linka-linki-h ... bi_m=reco&

That shows cables available for 350 PLN
Images from site 1
Images from site 1

3
Delivery to the UK not listed (bloody Brexit I'd guess to thank for that?)
Available countries listed
Available countries listed
I've no language skills and not enough faith in the auto translation options to dare getting in touch directly!
Put on a sensible phrase and hope "yes, no, thank you grapefruit?" Isn't the type of gibberish given back to paste onto an email.
:rofl2:

350 PLN = £68.32 Google tells me, which is stupendously cheap to be honest

UPDATE just reading this (translated) section:
Description
ELECTRIC HANDBRAKE CABLE

Application: CITROEN C5 years of production 2008-2020 all models

OE numbers:
9687473180
1612865480
102202-0130.4
9674099780
470210
470214
470205

left one with thread and large nut

or

right without thread with small nut

Included:
- handbrake cable (price per piece), right or left
Suggests (if correctly translated) it's £68 per cable, not for a set. Does not seem sensible to do only one side for me, but worth bearing in mind

Wow that is a better price to swallow!

Worth asking Marc if different modules shown for 2008 - 2011 Vs 2011-2016 = would put your mind at ease if not change from Citroen's perspective. I know is mention of an updated part (with no emergency release!) Perhaps 2011 onwards C5s were like that from new?

Cheapest for the plastic bit, China so slower delivery.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225794382470?
(£4.75 each)
Actually, this is cheaper for a pair of them
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325792414656?
£7.86

£14.50 for a pair listed as location: UK

I've read through again and I think I am going to just replace the unit, as I don't fancy opening up a unit thats glued together...

At least I know its been replaced too. :)

Can get it cheaper by venturing onto AliExpress (never used it myself)

I've underlined why that's probably a really excellent idea:
