Stubborn error codes P160a & B1003

Unread post by mikekat »

Got two fault codes which i can't delete. Tried with Diagbox and Thinkdiag+.
One is P160A in the ECU engine module and the second one is B1003 in the instrumental panel. Both has soemthing to do with the telecoding/downloading.

Anyone know how to get this off my car? I have a 308 T9 '15. Car drives good, no engine light or something.

Have diagbox and a token. Please help me out.

Thank you

Quite simply if you have a fault code you can't delete them!

That's the whole purpose - there is an underlying problem and that has to be dealt with before the faults can be erased permanently, as if you attempt to delete them and the problem remains it will just get triggered - there is no magic device to erase them without solving the problem.

In your case, I suspect somebody has been fiddling with Diagbox or other diagnostics and has started or initiated a procedure that has not completed - or by mistake, and has left one or more ECUs in an unconfigured state and this is what you have.

This happens when people don't know what they are doing and can brick their vehicles.

Both these fault codes relate to incorrect or incomplete configuration of certain ECUs that are now not correctly set, so other systems that depend on these working are now affected.

I suggest you take it to your dealer who may be able to connect to their servers and re-download the correct configuration for the affected system. Also don't bother with your clone version of Diagbox, as the affected vehicle ECUs are in secure mode, which can't be unlocked without dealer level access or a proper version of Diagbox with purchased access tokens and the knowledge of knowing what one is doing.

Have a read of this for future reference:

I have diagbox with online acces and have the original cable.
So can you help me to reconfigure the ecu? Is it enough to online telecode it automatic?

One of the issues is that the B1003 code is missing the last 2 digits - so you are unable to determine which ECU it is related to and P160A is a 'Downloading / Configuration: Homologation no. configuration fault'. So not sure if that is related to the previous fault or something else.

I can't help you with the configuration on this - it would normally be done automatically once you connect to authorised servers, go into the affected ECU and telecoding options, where it would usually ask if you want an automatic configuration. But you need to know which ECU is the problem. When you get the full fault code for the B1003 you may be a bit wiser.

Have you neem trying to telecode an option that your vehicle is not designed for? This is where most people have this fault.
