Shattering Friday the 13th
Hi all had a bit of an accident on Friday. I Thought given the fact the tailgate struts were dropping I would change them out, of course the bloody thing slipped out of my hand when I had the first side partially off and slammed down and shattered the rear windscreen couldn't bring myself to post it before this.
€300 all in is what I am looking at for my troubles I am getting autoglass to do it but could do without it.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

True but HSE in Ireland isn't free, thankfully no serious injury just an expensive lesson

It must be a Irish thing
the Irish barman at one of our local pubs put a beer keg in the boot of his hatchback slammed down the lid then spent a while sweeping up broken glass.

Just a bit hamfisted at times. Can't be perfect all the time but once in a while would be nice

Happens a lot. My daughter was going to Scotland with her friends family. Picked her up in their Micra. He shuffled some stuff around in the boot, slammed the tailgate shut and the glass fell at his feet.
A joiner mate had his son load some wood in their car, Vectra IIRC, again, slammed the tailgate down and smashed the rear screen.

Re: Shattering Friday the 13th
Having recently replaced my Xantia's rusty wing, the Doseur Valve started to leak inside the drivers footwell, whilst positioning the car to start repairs, near my front wall, a task normally achieved without a problem, on this day though, hindered by physical injuries and faultering power steering and brakes, the car lurched and leapt onto said wall, the handbrake saved the wall but the damage was done

It always amazes me that people slam the boot shut, I don't let anyone close the boot but myself.

Slamming vehicular doors has been the root cause of a few domestics in my household. "Next time you slam my car doors I'll slam you" has been uttered more than once.Rp0thejester wrote: 19 Oct 2023, 16:07 It always amazes me that people slam the boot shut, I don't let anyone close the boot but myself.

Re: Shattering Friday the 13th
FutureX has been cutting about in my BMW while her citroen was sick and I was offshore... It was recently 4 wheel aligned, and was arrow straight at upto 145mph, not a typo. Now it's got wheel wobble and pulls to the left. I'm going to start taking the key for it offshore with me.
