Michel wrote: 24 Sep 2023, 14:43 I quite often put part-worns on. I know people decry it, but every secondhand car you buy has part-worns on.. so it's the same, but with a chance to inspect the tyres first.
I always put part worns on, I very rarely drive my baby why would I pay stupid amount for a 215/60/16 tyre that rarely moves! Also part worns are helping the recycling environment surely!

The deed is done and the car is now shod with 4 almost new Goodyear Effective Grip Performance tyres, balanced and fitted for a total outlay of £210. Pretty chuffed with that but brought back to earth when I went to check out replacement headlight bulbs!!

Those bulbs seem to be inordinately expensive!
Is it for a lifetime supply perhaps?

Autodoc seem to have them a bit cheaper, or a lot cheaper if you are not fussy about branding. search "D4R"

I don't usually but as the C5 should have Michelins and there were two brand new ones in the spares, albeit about 15 years old but kept out of the UV by the boot floor. I bought a couple of used ones with 5-6mm of tread from ebay for £60.00, new they are £150.00+ each so thought that was a good deal. Just come back from Yorkshire with them on, feel fine - the tyres that is.

If Germany want to force people to change from summer tyres to winter tyres every 6 months who am I to complain, thx for the cheap tyres Germany. As for bulbs, one for my car was £60, I think it's gas filled, hence the price

I fear my own ramblings about the car preparation has diverted attention away from the outstanding issue I posted above. Here is an extract with the relevant part highlighted!! :-D
mickthemaverick wrote: 23 Sep 2023, 07:33 Just 4 weeks to go before the Saunter gets underway. It would be good if the various members named on the sheet could confirm their availability on the dates shown and we can then make individual arrangements as necessary.

The updated plan, not great quality I'm afraid but you can click on it to zoom in:

I should be able to make the Didcot/Sonning day. I hope Mike will also be able to join us (I'll get him to check).

I would (if you have enough time) stop off at Pangbourne, to have a look at the railway subway. Somebody did some lovely artwork (assuming it has not been vandalised).

I *hope* to be able to make it. If James is going anyway, I'll ask him to collect me as I'll be on crutches only 8 days after my op. I can neither confirm or say no until about the 19/20th of October.

Usually I recover to a state I'm raring to go after a couple of days but we shall have to see as I'm getting old FFS.

Excellent James, I did have an exchange with Mike about a venue earlier in the thread so we must nail one from those he suggested and hope his recovery goes well..

Your name isn't on the list Ryan because the route goes nowhere near Letchworth but you are very welcome to join us at any of the intended stops!! :-D
