DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
Hi
I have just bought a 2016 DS3 1.6HDI Prestige 120PS, lovely car.
As I understand it, there should (or could) be a possibility that I can get Mirrorlink on it.
Currently it just has the Internet Browser thing and I thought that Mirrorlink was standard (turns out nah).
Anyways, firstly, is it possible to get this? This would save me having to mount my phone which is a bit of a pain.
My system software is SMEG6.1.D.R19
I have looked all over the place for an answer for this but not found anything definitive, if I have to pay for it I don't mind, I just want it.
Anyone an expert in this?

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
Mirrorlink has been discontinued and is no longer supported as of 30th Sept. 2023. It only works on old phones now and if you upgrade or delete the app, that's it.
https://carconnectivity.org/mirrorlink- ... r-30-2023/
Many phone brands like Samsung have dropped support a while ago. The field has moved on with CarPlay and Android Auto, which are natively supported by Connected Nav systems in PSA vehicles from about 2017 onwards.
To put it briefly, this version of SMEG you have will support CarPlay and Mirrorlink (but Mirrorlink only for limited devices that remain compatible as said above), but it won't support Android Auto.

OK Thanks
Lets assume that I do have an older phone (no idea if I have or not), is it actually possible to do something that will activate this option on the display?

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
If you have the option of Mirrorlink being displayed on the screen then it will connect if you have the mirrorlink app on a compatible phone. The functionality is already there on your head unit.

I do not have this option, I can only see Internet Connection. The question is, how do I get the Mirrorlink Option to show? Is it actually possible?

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
Read P45 of the manual. You need to first pair the smartphone via Bluetooth, then go to connected services, which should then show the Mirrorlink option. If you don't have the manual see here to access a copy:

Ive paired phone already, I know this works as I can stream Spotify using it which is great (although every time I start the engine it defaults to radio). When I go to connected services I can just see internet, no mirror link or car play or anything else

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
Have you downloaded the app or checked your phone is compatible? Some phones need the accompanying app for Mirrorlink - but I have a suspicion that if you don't already have the app, you may not be able to download it for the reasons stated (discontinued / no longer supported). Again, later operating systems of these phones have removed support too.

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
I maybe getting this wrong but I thought the 'icons' are visible regardless of whether you have the app or not. My query is that I do not have the 'icons', lets say I have the 'mirror link' app (which I don't) is that what is stopping it showing up? I wouldn't that thought so?

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
The app icons are not displayed on the vehicle screen until the connection is made to a compatible phone - hence 'Mirror' link - it is just mirroring the apps from your phone. It's the same as Apple CarPlay - no apps are displayed until CarPlay is actually connected.
The software on your phone has to support it or the Mirrorlink app on phones. Without this nothing will happen.

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
OK I understand now. Obviously I have a Samsung S22 which I cannot install Mirrorlink onto. What a complete arse.
Guessing that there are plenty of people out there who want to use this but just can't because they have a newer phone, is there a solution? Update firmware of screen maybe?

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
I just re-read your post, you are saying that the apps are not present until the phone is connected, that I get. But shouldn't carplay or mirror link be there on the screen anyway? Mine doesn't have that, just has internet browser

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
Simply no.
If I don't have my iPhone connected CarPlay is not displayed. As you have a Samsung, it will not be supported by them now.
No software update or screen will fix this - it is outdated tech that is no longer supported and hasn't by Samsung for some years:

Re: DS3 2016 Mirrorlink
OK, back on this one again. Not going to be able to use Mirrorlink because my phone is new.
Question - I would really like Android Auto, had it on a hire car and its great, I can use Spotify and Waze on the screen rather than mounting phone on the dash. What do I need to do to get this?
Is there an update I can do to the software? Looks like I am on SMEG6.1.D.R19
Is there an easy way to just buy a new display, if so which one
Is there any third party thing I can download to get this going?
Thanks

Your system is not equipped for Android Auto and no updates will fix this. The system is too early to support it.
