Hi
I have a 2022 Citoren dispatch that I have on lease, since buying the van I have been getting increasingly unwell to the point I was falling asleep at the wheel and having to eat to keep myself awake. I thought I was just getting old and went to the doctors for tests . It wasn’t until I took my son out for the day and I could hardly wake him up at the end of the day that I realised it must be the van. Also my better half Sam said she was getting headaches as soon as she was in there when I asked her.
So I finally got Citroen to take it back in and they said that there was a faulty hp gasket that was leaking oil, so yesterday they delivered it back and after loading my things back in I could smell something at the passenger vent.
When I opened the bonnet I found that the air filter box was just hanging there and wasn’t clamped to the fan casing, the holes are there for the clamp but it’s missing. Is this the problem?
Thanks for your help

Re: Fumes inside van
I'd ring them up and report the shoddy workmanship and then get them to test it to make sure. I wouldn't be driving it without the windows down until you are sure they have fixed it and also rectified the refitting issue.

Thanks
Would the air box being off cause the engine fumes to circulate in the heating?

No the air filter box only feeds air to the engine. You really need to get that sorted what you are describing is carbon monoxide poisoning, itcan kill you very easily. Get the garage to check the exhaust for leaks.

Thank you, where is the air intake for the ventilation system? I just want to check for myself if there is anything they have missed. The only fault they said they found was the gasket on the hp pump.

The air intake comes in via the front scuttle - but of course, any residual oil that is being heated via the engine / exhaust will likely be sucked in too - it's the same as the 1.6 HDis on these when you get an injector seal leak - it pools up, gets heated and smokes, being pulled into the cabin. Happened on my sister's Picasso. They tightened the seals down, but still stunk of fumes for ages after.
