Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 2.0 HDi EGR cleaning

Unread post by Leffemangan »

Hi,

It is time to clean the EGR. My idea is to try out Wynn's Diesel EGR Cleaner. I am new to diesel engines though, so I figured it is best to get some answer from the forum. Where is the best place to use the spray? I was assuming that I should remove the hose at that the red arrow is pointing to? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

There are various methods of cleaning. Ideally it should be removed and cleaned so it can be inspected before replacement.

There are numerous YouTube videos covering this subject.

Yes, I have watched a lot of them. Just want to be sure that I remove the correct hose on my engine.

You could do it there however you would be missing loads of the inlet track. I would remove the air intake after the air flow meter & spray it in there, that way it will also clean the turbo & intercooler. Its the pipe just to the right of the brake fluid reservoir in the pic.

Thanks, that was my first guess. But the youtube films got me thinking that I needed to spray it as close as possible to the engine.

Thanks! :-)

It would work if you sprayed it up there but you wouldn't get the full advantage of cleaning the whole inlet track. Also you need to rev the engine a bit when you use EGR3 spray, you may find the engine would go into limp mode if you disconnected the pipe straight at the inlet manifold.
Remember also when you use the pipe i suggested it will most likely log a mass air flow fault, remember to go in & clear the fault codes afterwards.

Having the same dilemma. So you recommend to undo the hose marked in yellow from the air flow meter and squirt the EGR cleaner into the hose end?

Myglaren that's the wrong engine. The turbo in the 2.0 hdi is round the back and requires the engine to be taken out.

That is ridiculous!
As bad or worse than requiring half the car to be removed to change the heater matrix.

I'd agree with this. It's what I did when using the spray, you will need someone in the car keeping constant revs let's say 2k and warn them not to panic when the revs start rocketing it's the spray doing it.
