Peugeot 308 SW 2015 - Antenna Amplifier location

Hi, This is my first time on a forum so here goes! The SMEG radio on my 308 SW keeps losing radio stations (poor reception message pops up) and my auto electrician tells me it's most probably the antenna amplifier that's gone as oppoosed to the main radio head. I've taken out the roof lining, looked behind the rear quarter lights, followed the antenna wiring right to the head but can't located the antenna amplifier...grrrr! Can anyone help....please?

These are generally at the rear of the ceiling headlining / and some you'll need to remove the rear interior lighting panel to see them.

What type of antenna is it? Not all of them have an amplifier.

I suspect that the antenna does not have an amplifier, or it would be built into the base.

Ok thank you…that’s maybe why I couldn’t find it then! I’ve got a replacement head coming soon so hopefully that will sort the problem out.

Our 2015 308SW has a teardrop shaped aerial base with a whip aerial screwed into it. I suspect that the amplifier is inside the base as it is on many other cars.

It depends there are BOTH types on this vehicle, depending on head unit / audio equipment fitted....

OK, it's still a little confusing because of the possible options, and items marked by asterisk * mean according to version - so not sure if you will ne any the wiser:

As you can see if you have any of the aerial amps they will be to the right rear: You should look to where the connections are for the aerial that is screen printed onto the rear screen. Following that back will likely lead to the aerial amplifier on the right side if fitted.

General location of components excluding aerial components:

(9) Front RH woofer speaker.
(10) Front RH tweeter speaker.
(11) Rear RH woofer speaker.
(12) Rear RH tweeter speaker (*) (You probably don't have the Additional Tweeter)
(13) AM, FM1, GPS, DAB aerials (*).
(14) Bass box (*). (You don't have the Bass Box)
(15) Audio amplifier (*). (You don't have the Equaliser Amp)
(16) Rear LH tweeter speaker (*). (You probably don't have the Additional Tweeter)
(17) Rear LH woofer speaker.
(18) Front LH tweeter speaker.
(19) Front LH woofer speaker.


FM2 Aerial is on the rear windscreen.

Thank you but still confused to be honest. I have the estate and the wires from the aerial don’t run underneath the headliner from rear to the front but drop down behind the plastic quarter light in the boot on the drivers side then all along the bottom of the doors to the front, under the drivers side footwell carpet and into the centre console. Maybe there is no amplifier to be found??

Yes, that is correct - it doesn't go via the headlining - the image is a small section of the larger image but is routed as you say via the driver's footwell along the side and out via the top rear on the image I have shown.

I've tried to be as helpful as I can but parts diagrams require a membership upgrade

As I mentioned, if you trace the wiring from that rear quarter from the rear screen you may or may not see them. They are small in-line control units that look like this if you have them:

Thanks again…I’m normally pretty good with this stuff but this one’s baffling me. I’ve just been to the car and the only connections on the back window are for the demister strips I believe. I’ve attached some photos, I don’t think there’s a printed aerial unless I’m being a muppet! Regards

You can't actually see them as they are part of the heated rear windscreen elements IIRC. But the wiring may be from the rear side right loom. I really can't provide any more detail on this as the aerials unlike some other vehicles are not covered as part of any repair procedure for this 2015 model. I don't want to lead you up the garden path!

If you can't find it then focus on the aerial base that houses the GPS aerial in addition.
