While driving the other day a car went into limp mode and showed a engine fault after paying for a Diagnostic test it showed faults p11a and p1496
I have been to two garages to tell me it needs a new turbo at a cost of 1200!!!! Fitted. Its a 2018 306 1.5 it is booked in at peugeot to be 100% sure it needs one.
Whilst turbo failure was common on the early 1.6 16Vs it's pretty much unheard of on the later engines. Hopefully it's something else; but I imagine £1200 will look like a bargain compared to what Pug will quote if it does need a new one....
A search on P1496 suggests it could be an egr valve problem so may not be the turbo.
P11aa suggests the turbo pressure is not what would be expected. I would use a code reader with live data to see what values the MAP sensor is giving, it could be a turbo fault or even a MAP sensor fault.
Anyway a proper diagnosis is needed so only any faulty parts are replaced.
