I have a Citroen Multispace and recently am having problems pulling away in first gear. The car jerks and judders and sometimes you hear a grinding noise.
However there appears to be no loss of power that you might expect if the clutch was slipping. Also if you pull away in second gear it is usually fine, there is only a very slight judder sometimes. Once you're on the move everything is normal.
My first thoughts are it must be a clutch problem, but in your experience could it be something else? It's an expensive job to have the clutch replaced, so I would like to be sure that is the actual problem.
